ILGOP Releases Digital Ad “Illinois Deserves Better Than This”
Ad Highlights Mike Madigan’s Tax Hike Agenda, Refusal to Pass A Budget
After Democrats in the General Assembly again refused to pass any budget, the Illinois Republican Party released digital ads highlighting their failure and inability to stand up for the hardworking taxpayers of the state.
Instead of compromising and working with Republicans to get a truly balanced budget with the reforms needed to fix our state, Mike Madigan’s muppets in Springfield only want to pass a massive tax hike without structural change.
That’s not the path to getting our state back on track. We’ve got to stop just sticking it to taxpayers in Illinois.
… that still, two years later, can’t get 60/30 or 71/36, or when Rauner himself won’t take a 90% win.
“Rate it”
The Ad? It’s a “B+, A-”.
“Why?”
It’s honest to the headlines and news grabs, it’s purpose is to alienate the partners Rauner needs to help Rauner’s 58% disapproval, it hits all the things necessary to deflect “Skyhook, in reverse”… and even though it’s a digital Ad, it’s the only message out there… because Dems either flat-out refuse to hold Rauner accountable as Rauner did to Quinn… or are too busy attaching each other and flat-out ignore Rauner, choosing to go after the short term, and letting Rauner frame the long term.
Oh, it’s a “B+, A-”, and even without it being on Tee-Vee… it’s the lone message, again… and it’s winning.
“Because Madigan” is becoming more of a lame excuse every day and is not relevant for the long term; Father Time will resolve the “Madigan problem” long before the damage done by Rauner is repaired. Until the GOP caucus shows some sign of support for the Senate package, this will drag on needlessly. If a dozen members in the GOP caucus would do their jobs and put the needs of the State ahead of continued support of their patron governor’s failure of leadership, the Senate package would get called for a vote and pass.
Rauner you are the Gov. - you could have done a line item veto. But, no you did not care & neither did the General Assembly. So, we are without a budget for pride. (Not the People) Time to change this Gov. this one is broken.

Political impact: strong. He really does believe people are stupid enough to believe him. In the absence of a counter-narrative, he’s probably right.
Will this help him get to 71 and 36? No, but then, he doesn’t care about that either. He’s a nihilist.

It’s a solid ad. This crew knows how to create and execute ads in an easy to understand way.

Solid ad. Resonates.

Nice work on the blame shift. My guess is it doesn’t change many minds one way or the other who blames who.
It may, however, get more people to stay unaware that it’s RAUNER’S constitutional duty to propose a budget. Something he hasn’t done.

Is there a grade below F- ? When will they admit the budget “deal” they want a vote on is BIG T.A.X. hike.
Moe incompetence

Bruce Rauner infuriates me. That said, I give the ad a B+

I blame them all, but at a simplistic level the ad works. B+.
The Dems look bad for taking so many days off during the regular session and not even holding any vote.

To quote Lincoln again, “For people who like that kind of thing, that’s the kind of thing they will like.”
But it won’t change any hearts or minds. C+

Because it’s June and there’s no budget, what else is there to do?

It’s time to tell Tim Schneider, enough is enough.

Meh, the same spot will be run against Rauner.
