*** UPDATED x4 - Won’t comment on ad - Extends ad buy - Group cancels press conference - Oops!!! *** Dark money group readies new TV ad just in case

Friday, Jun 30, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

*** UPDATE 1 ***  I was moving so fast I posted the wrong ad. Sorry! I accidentally posted the first ad, which is already on the air. Here’s the Do Your Job, Inc. spot which is online right now, but will be put on TV if today ends without an agreement

*** UPDATE 2 *** Do Your Job, Inc. had scheduled a press conference for today at 1:30, but they just canceled it.

When I asked why, I was told “good faith.”

The ad’s still up, however.

*** UPDATE 3 *** Latest ad buy report from Comcast…

*** UPDATE 4 *** I asked the group’s spokesman what the group plans to do tomorrow and was told “We’ll see.” The spokesman said the buy extension was done to “coincide with the special session.”

Lou Lang should never again lecture Governor Rauner about a sitting elected official spending campaign money mid-stream to get a message across.

  2. - VanillaMan - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 10:30 am:

    Better than the radio spots.

  3. - VanillaMan - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 10:35 am:

Are the Democrats assuming an easy win?
    Please don’t.
There are many citizens excited to see Illinois go over the edge, believing that Rauner has a magical fix for when it does.

Democrats have to focus on explaining to gullible voters that Rauner’s big to destroy Illinois, then restore it through bankrutsy will cost them in higher taxes, not lower.

  4. - Me Again - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 10:44 am:

Finally, the Democrats are fighting fire with fire!

  5. - Chicago Cynic - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 11:22 am:

Need VO. Text only ads ask too much of passive viewers.

  6. - me - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 11:24 am:

    powerful and moving.

Yep, if this is running on the 6:00pm news while I’m making dinner, I’ll never see the text.

This is a great ad. Music is nice touch. Love how they leave quote out there of Rauner being happy, for the viewer to absorb it then connect a dot of him sleeping well.

  9. - On the Menu?? - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 11:58 am:

While those making dinner may miss it i think it stands out b/c of no VO. Cuts through effectively.

47th Ward, whats for dinner if they get a deal?

  10. - SuburbanDem - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 12:01 pm:

A+. Democrats finally fighting back. Rep. Lang & Sen. Hastings, definitely the right guys to scheme up a counterpunch to Rauner.

  11. - VanillaMan - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 12:11 pm:

    I hate voice overs.
    They get old immediately.

  12. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 12:41 pm:

I think the term “dark money group” is offensive. They are simply a group who liberates other people’s money, and educates the masses. “Robin Hood Group” is much better.

  13. - Cubs in '16 - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 12:43 pm:

I take it as a positive sign that both sides are taking a moratorium on the mud slinging. Good faith is something that has been non-existent for awhile now. I’m anxious to hear what Rauner has to say, if he says anything at all. If he can show some restraint it’ll be a really good sign.

  14. - The Dude Abides - Friday, Jun 30, 17 @ 1:05 pm:

Being that Rauner has engaged in mud slinging 12 months a year since being elected the Democrats have no choice but to respond, unless they want this walking mistake of a Governor to be reelected.
    Effective ad.

Go ahead a watch 47. The microwave will still pop your corn. lol
