Today, the JB for Governor campaign released new calls holding Bruce Rauner accountable for the damage he’s done to the people of Illinois through his 736-day manufactured budget crisis. Legislators overrode his desperate and reckless veto, but the suffering of Illinois families can’t be erased.
The robo calls will target state House and Senate districts across the state.
3) Rauner has no successes, that can be linked to the veto budget, until May-ish, 2018, when, again, Rauner can try for his first full fiscal year budget signature.
This is it. These are Rauner’s failings, and Rauner failed again.

Solid “B”, laying a groundwork. Needs to be part of a base coat that continues these types of messages.
Nothing “game changing” in the message, but having a message does change the balance of the game.
==having a message does change the balance of the game==
This has long been my thought, and I think I voiced it a few times when people snickered at Rauner’s commercials: putting a message out there is probably more important than making sure the message is as tight and crisp as could be.
I think Rauner’s in a stronger position for 2018 than he was before thd override because it makes his message much simpler (fight the Madigan tax hike no term limit no property tax relief machine) and the case against him more complex (going from stop the carnage now to Rauner’s responsible for all that carnage that happened a year and a half ago from November 2018).
Plus Rauner does not have to explain away signing a tax hike.
Rauner gets to campaign in bullet points now while his opponent may have to campaign in paragraphs.
He is not running against Rauner, they are all running against Madigan. If you don’t have some plan to deal with Madigan, you will own a 7% income tax, the highest property taxes in the nation, and the worst economy.
With no Madigan plan, you will fail like the 4 guys before you and the best you can hope for is not going to prison and that is a 50/50 proposition.
==it makes his message much simpler (fight the Madigan tax hike no term limit no property tax relief machine)==
Except he already lost to that agenda.
==and the case against him more complex (going from stop the carnage now to Rauner’s responsible for all that carnage that happened a year and a half ago from November 2018)==

That script might leave anyone who listened to it under the impression that Rauner was a part of the compromise.

Gotta start early that…
1) Rauner owns the destruction.
2) Rauner has yet to sign a budget.

You really think the carnage is over?

Democrats called the 4 year property tax freeze. Didn’t get one Republican vote.
