I thought it started at noon. Is the governor still tying his tie?

  2. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:13 pm:

It was noted Diana Rauner liked the speech Hud crafted.

    Always messaging… lol

  3. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:15 pm:

    Who is not a taxpayer?

  4. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:17 pm:

Michael Jordan is from North Carolina

  5. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:19 pm:

    “powerhouse job creator”

Bruce Rauner couldn’t name ONE job he created in the private sector.

  6. - Arthur Andersen - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:21 pm:

Ok, so what have you done, Governor?

  7. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:22 pm:

“Call for public trust”… as Rauner claimed to have a blind trust, while doing personal business as governor.

  8. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:22 pm:

He’s just a credible as Trump when calling for cooperation.

  9. - Norseman - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:22 pm:

    === Truth to power ===

How about truth from power Rauner?

  10. - illini - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:23 pm:

So, if Illinois has world class Universities - Why not recognize and promote this fact and fund them accordingly?

  11. - Saluki - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:24 pm:

    Amen Illini…

  12. - don the legend - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:26 pm:

Am I the only one who cannot listen to him? I know I should but I just can’t stand it.

    Am I alone?

  13. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:27 pm:

I’m hearing a bunch of g’s. Is something wrong with my computer?

  14. - njt - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:27 pm:

    http://interactive.wbez.org/legionnaires/

Great article on the Quincy situation worth remembering.

  15. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:29 pm:

Rauner goes after Madigan, “victims” and “rigged”…

So, Rauner wants “bipartisan” cooperation but goes after Madigan business as “corruption”

    Welp…

  16. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:29 pm:

    Amen illini…

Henry Francis, he’s not in costume, he’s in big boy clothes.

  17. - Grandson of Man - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:30 pm:

And why try to strip the labor rights of university workers? Why set them up to have happen what Rauner’s trying to do to state employees: double their health insurance costs, eliminate layoff protections, freeze their pay, have total right to privatize, give them a grossly unfair merit pay system, terrible retirement health insurance?

  18. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:30 pm:

    “… sitting in this chamber… “

    Term limits targets Rauner “enemies”?

  19. - Honeybear - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:31 pm:

    Ruh-roh
Ethics EO that overrides collective bargaining agreements?
    There it is
I bet you anything there is an anti Union attack
    In that EO
    He’s hiding it behind the
    Anti sexual harassment issue.

  20. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:31 pm:

Will we hear about all the successes his Intersect has delivered to the state?

  21. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:32 pm:

    ===“… sitting in this chamber…”===

He’s standing right behind me, isn’t he?

  22. - Honeybear - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:33 pm:

    Anybody know
Why do they change out the sign language person so often?

  23. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:33 pm:

Note: Rauner has yet to sign a full year’s funding for Illiniis’ Higher Education.

  24. - illini - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:34 pm:

    @ Willy - we know.

  25. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:34 pm:

Lol. He mentioned that he created Intersect (it was 2 years ago) and they have gone on trips to Asia and Isreal.

But how did any of that help the state?

  26. - Arthur Andersen - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:36 pm:

Honeybear, one can’t sign a dropped “G.” Once he starts that, the interpreters get confused and have to rotate out.

  27. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:39 pm:

There we go! “We’re fightin’ the opioid epidemic. . .”

  28. - Blue dog dem - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:39 pm:

    Nucor steel. Non-union.

  29. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:40 pm:

    Rauner discusses agencies.

Rauner has yet to sign a full year’s funding for his state agencies.

The last full year state budgetary funding for his agencies was done with overrides of his own vetoes.

  30. - Blue dog dem - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:42 pm:

We are careful stewards of taxpayers money. Now that is funny. How do you younglings say it? LOL?

  31. - Norseman - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:43 pm:

The Big Lie is repeated again.

  32. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:44 pm:

They are laughing WITH you Governor.

  33. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:44 pm:

Democrats mockingly cheer, a standing ovation, Rauner saying he will submit a balanced budget, something Rauner has yet to do in 3 tries.

Rauner retorts, in a fun lil exchange not seen too often.

  34. - illini - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:44 pm:

I can’t wait for the budget address.

  35. - Flapdoodle - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:47 pm:

@ don the legend — You’re not alone. I don’t have enough blood pressure med or Pepto Bismol to watch the guv for more than 30 seconds.

  36. - Fixer - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:48 pm:

Not sure by Doug and Bernie are saying critics will say it’s his first balanced budget. Pretty well everyone but the governor has shown, not just said, why they weren’t balanced. The press handing out free passes to this guy is getting really old.

  37. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:49 pm:

Rich, Cullerton runs you out of your seat? Heresy!

  38. - JustMe - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:50 pm:

    Honeybear:

Sign-language interpreters get tired from processing what they hear into physical sign. In order to keep them fresh and the information consistent and accurate, they tag out periodically.

  39. - Louis G. Atsaves - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:51 pm:

Brilliant. Insightful. Thoughtful. Dramatic. Far Reaching.

I bet everyone here thought I would respond this way./snark

  40. - Norseman - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:53 pm:

An amusing fairytale read to us by the “g” dropping governor.

  41. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 12:55 pm:

=So, if Illinois has world class Universities - Why not recognize and promote this fact and fund them accordingly?=

He meant the private universities, Silly.

  42. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:00 pm:

Brady is either delusional, spinning or both if he doesn’t think the cheering for a balanced budget wasn’t sarcastic.

  43. - DuPage - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:08 pm:

Honeybear, the sign language is exhausting both physically and mentally. They not only sign with their hands but numerous facial expressions and gestures which are timed to coordinate with the hands. They don’t know what he is going to say until he says it, so they have to think and act really fast.

  44. - illini - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:08 pm:

@JS Mill - yeah, University of Chicago and Northwestern are tops along with UIUC. But ALL the public Universities are dependent on his leadership in promoting the entire system we have in place.

And if he had done that we would not have well over 70,000 students going out of state and over 7000 direct jobs lost because of the budget cuts and the lack of priorities this funding issue has in his agenda.

  45. - 35/Shields - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:30 pm:

Infiltrate and kill, infiltrate and kill…

  46. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:35 pm:

@illini- Amen. He has failed and his hypocrisy is sickening.

  47. - Langhorne - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:41 pm:

    Words/deeds

    R is incapable of learning.
    30/60 is beyond his grasp
3 yrs in, message unchanged, though “ TA “dropped
    Skilled offense.

I hope to god the lame ducks realize the potential power they have at this moment in the history of our state. Rise up.

  48. - Honeybear - Wednesday, Jan 31, 18 @ 1:41 pm:

    Cool, I learned something
I just always assumed that the sign interpreters were reading it off a TelePrompTer.
    That would be exhausting
