Chris Kennedy’s campaign for Governor released the following ad today, narrated by Martin Sheen. The ad highlights Chris Kennedy’s values and family history. The ad will run statewide, across multiple markets.
…Adding… This is the same ad as last week’s “Ideals” ad with a new narrator, so the headline was changed.
RFK: “Few will have the greatness to bend history …. generation.”
Narrator: Chris Kennedy’s father fought for civil rights, equality and fairness
RFK: of all those acts will be written the history of this generation…
Narrator: Today, the fight lives on in Chris’s campaign for Governor. To take on a broken political system. Endorsed by Newspapers across the State as Authentic and Independent… Kennedy will be an Anti-establishment Governor with a progressive agenda. And the vision to reshape Illinois.
I wonder about the other ad Kennedy made to rebut some of the charges JB has been making against him. Kennedy tweeted the ad yesterday. Is this being broadcast?
Seriously though, going back to Dad and JFK makes sense when you don’t have much else, but geez what an empty well. And according to the CapFax poll, Dems over 50 gave Kennedy his best numbers but still showed he’s losing to Pritzker by about 10 so we’ll see if there’s enough of that Kennedy magic left to move numbers.
I would have enjoyed an updated version of JFK’s Jingle commercial of, Kennedy, Kennedy Kennedy. But instead its about Chris, and they use a little image of his head that bounces on top of the words Kennedy as they flash across the screen. Now that would be a throw back I would enjoy.
Martin Sheen has made some serious beer money on the Kennedys.
He’s played both JFK and RFK on TV, and he’s the narrator of the current CNN doc series on the family.
It’s a crime the dude didn’t even get nominated for Best Actor for “Apocalypse Now.” In addition to a great performance in a historic flick, he came back from both a mental breakdown and a heart attack in the middle of the shoot in The Phillipines.

Terrific ad - especially if you’re 50 or older, or a fan of “West Wing”. If only Kennedy has $1 million for one week of this.
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 13, 18 @ 10:26 am:
Could be why Kennedy, so crassly, went after Pritzker’s family as he did.
Maybe? No? Hmm.

Now if they had used Charlie Sheen.

===If only Kennedy…===
The real theme of the Kennedy campaign.

It’s really a good ad. It was before, and now it is better. Sheen’s voice makes it more disruptive so you take notice.
Why has it taken Chris this long to get it right?
Nevermind. I know. Very strong ad nonetheless.

How big is the buy? Is this running in other markets or just Chicago? Did Sheen also make a six figure donation?
It’s a good ad, but it’s late and lots of people need to see this or Kennedy doesn’t have a chance.

Great ad. The guy really looks like his father. He’s my guy, I voted for him. Too bad it’s very late. He should have started his campaign this way.

As Carl Fox, maybe he can deliver the airplane mechanics union for Kennedy.

Stellar voice over.
Could be helpful depending on the size of the ad buy.

If you’re a fan of the flick, you owe it to yourself to see the making-of doc, “Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse.”
In many respects, it’s a just as compelling examination of power gone mad. And it’s real.
