New Ives radio ad claims Democrats are trying to help Rauner, while Brady does Rauner robocall

Friday, Mar 16, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller

* These DGA ads are really stirring stuff up. Here’s a new :30 radio spot from Jeanne Ives

* Script…

It turns out Bruce Rauner is the Democrat Governors Association’s favorite fake Republican.

Rauner and his Democrat friends are attacking Jeanne Ives for being conservative.

They don’t like that Ives voted against the sanctuary state law Rauner signed.

They don’t like that Ives voted against taxpayer funding of abortion that Rauner signed.

They don’t like that Ives voted against the Chicago Public school bailout that Rauner signed.

They don’t like that Ives has been endorsed by National Review, the leading conservative journal in America.

Fake Republican Rauner and his Democrat friends don’t like Jeanne Ives. Which is why you should.

* In other related news, Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady recorded a robocall for the Rauner campaign about the DGA ads

* Script…

Hi. I’m Bill Brady, Senate Republican Leader. As a conservative, I’m calling to remind you to vote for Bruce Rauner on Tuesday, March 20th in the Republican primary.

The national Democrats have throw their weight behind Jeanne Ives in an attempt to sway the election. That shows how important this election is. We have to elect Bruce Rauner to have a hope of winning against the Democrats in November. It is critical for the future of our state and our party that you vote for Bruce Rauner on Tuesday, March 20th. Thank you.

…Adding… Everybody is getting in on the act. Sen. Tim Bivins just cut a robocall for Ives

The guy has a great radio voice.

* Script…

This is state Senator Tim Bivins. I’m calling to tell you that I have endorsed and am voting for Jeanne Ives for Governor.

I know Jeanne Ives. Jeanne is the leading conservative reform legislator in Springfield.

Oh, and those political adds tying her to Mike Madigan? Well they’re just that, political ads distorting the truth. Jeanne Ives is a rock-solid conservative who has taken on Mike Madigan time and again.

Please join me in voting for conservative Jeanne Ives.

===We have to elect Bruce Rauner to have a hope of winning against the Democrats in November.===

He forgot to add, “Believe me, I know first hand.”

    Rauner is a Raunerite.

If Rauner wasn’t a Raunerite, he wouldn’t be in this pickle.

Rauner is nether a conservative or a Republican. Diana and Bruce bought the ILGOP brand, so it’s too easy to point out Rauner isn’t who he wants to say he is.

  3. - Blue dog dem - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 3:49 pm:

Yup. Just got the Brady call. Had know way of telling him he just contacted a #NeverRauner household.

This is getting insane. I can’t wait for Monday’s Capitol Fax to see how much weirder it got over the weekend

  5. - wordslinger - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 3:51 pm:

That DGA, they’re like triple double-ought-agents.

    Vipers, vipers, everywhere.

FYI. Pritzker was greeted by some “we love Trump” t shirts yesterday at the steel plant.

Wow! I am so glad I gave up my landline phone 12 years ago. I’ve not received one robocall on my cellphone.

Somewhere, somewhere warm, Christine Radogno takes a moment to glance at the CapFax tab she’s always telling herself she should remove from on her iPad, smiles to herself as she adjusts her chaise lounge and takes a slow sip of her margarita, savoring every last bit of everything, as she turns to the next page.

I’m disconnecting from this stuff until Tuesday.
No phone. No paper. No radio. No TV. I’ll leave this kind of ad campaigns to the old folks who still watch the Seinfeld reruns, listen to commercial radio and still check the paper for weather, movies and yesterday’s news.

This isn’t campaigning. It’s twitching and rolling around the floor speaking in tongues as panic sets in.

Ives is MJM’s favorite candidate (BVR)
Rauner is Dems’ favorite candidate (J. Ives)

Message to DGA/MJM: Make up your mind already.

    My brain hurts.

  11. - Arsenal - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:18 pm:

You can tell the shakey campaigns from the solid ones by who keeps running their game plan versus who overreacts to every new development. But frankly, both of these campaigns are losing their cool right now.

  12. - Winnin’ - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:19 pm:

Hi, I’m Bill Brady. You remember me. The candidate who ran for Governor against Bruce Rauner. He spent millions belittling me. Called me a Careerfella.
    I liked that.
    Vote for Bruce Rauner.

  14. - Anon - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:24 pm:

Not sure which is more telling: that Rauner can only find Brady to do a telephone booth robocall or that Brady has to announce his title in the call.

  15. - Flat Bed Ford - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:24 pm:

I seriously need a drink. I start twitching when I think that this is just the opening act for November. This. Is. Just. Nuts.

  16. - A guy - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:25 pm:

The difference in those two calls is utterly stark. In the first one with Leader Brady, it sounds as inspired as a hostage call. He did the call, but may have gotten a few volts for good measure.

In Bivins call, it’s clearer, more upbeat and he’s convincing in addition to having a nice voice.

It is getting weird out there.

  17. - Grandson of Man - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:25 pm:

“I’ll leave this kind of ad campaigns to the old folks”

The Republican base and the most reliable voters.

    “Rauner is a Raunerite.”

He sure is an “uber-left, coastal limousine liberal” when he’s profiting off of those public employee pensions. Just not when he’s trying to cripple the people who enrich him.

  18. - wordslinger - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:26 pm:

–Brady has to announce his title in the call.–

In the last GOP guv primary, Brady had a spot where it was obvious that he read, “Hi, I’m Sen. Bill Brady,” off of cue cards.

  19. - Rich Miller - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:41 pm:

===it sounds as inspired as a hostage call. ===

That is, without a doubt, the funniest thing you’ve ever posted here. Thanks!

  20. - Grandson of Man - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:43 pm:

I’m seeing TV ads with gubernatorial candidates talking about themselves. I see no Rauner ads, except those attacking other people. That’s what happens when someone has such a poor record.

  21. - A guy - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:46 pm:

===That is, without a doubt, the funniest thing you’ve ever posted here. Thanks!===

Please tell me I furnished other nominees. lol

  22. - Winnin’ - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:47 pm:

Ives signs everywhere. Rauner signs nowhere.
Of course, signs don’t vote, but the Ives folks are energized and even passing out lit at church.

  23. - Real - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:55 pm:

Ives signs everywhere. Rauner signs nowhere

-If the signs are in front of a house I would think the homeowner would vote.

With all that money Rauner has. Seeing no signs for me could mean trouble and it would be well deserved.

  24. - Arsenal - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:57 pm:

==In the first one with Leader Brady, it sounds as inspired as a hostage call.==

There’s that famous Bill Brady charisma that gave Pat Quinn all he could handle.

  25. - SameolG - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:57 pm:

Politics 2018 USA. Money buys distortion and lies. Good times.

  26. - Just Me - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 4:58 pm:

Why would anyone do a favor for Ives?

  27. - Fav Hum - Friday, Mar 16, 18 @ 5:05 pm:

At the very least, we have to admit that both sides seem to THINK it’s pretty close….
