  1. - Six Degrees of Separation - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 8:38 pm:

J.B. sure put some Bisstance between himself and his closest opponent.

  2. - JoanP - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 8:55 pm:

Trib reports that Berrios has conceded to Kaegi. (Well, you didn’t think it was to Raila, did you?)

  3. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 9:06 pm:

When Pritzker thanks Kennedy and Biss, he’ll mean it. Those two both staying in the race was the ballgame, from the get-go.

  4. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 9:39 pm:

Pat Quinn is finally getting more votes than Bruce Rauner. Still a loser, though.

  5. - RFD dem - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 9:50 pm:

I disagree that Maurice West wasn’t the favorite in the 67th — well known family, endorsed by the mayor and the paper. Valarie and Angela split the more liberal voters, but West was always the front-runner here.

  6. - Amalia - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:04 pm:

    Fritchey conceded

  7. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:04 pm:

Looking like Quinn’s race for mayor starts tomorrow.

  8. - Colin O'Scopy - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:24 pm:

Ooof. After that speech, Rauner is on track to a defeat of epic proportions. I’m thinking 90% to 10% Pritzker over Rauner.

  9. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:34 pm:

Ole One Term. Ya earned it.

  10. - Henry Francis - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:43 pm:

Wow. Some speech by the Guv. Basically vote for me or the state ends. Nothing else in that message. He didn’t even thank Diana or his running mate.

And Ives took shots at him during her speech.

What path does he have? Considering how looney he got when Ives closed in on him, how is he gonna be when he is running double digits behind?

  11. - Skeptical - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:57 pm:

Rauner still might not have the Ives challenge completely behind him. Her close run may inspire a conservative third party run. Even taking 5% of the vote in November would doom his re-election.

  12. - Generation X - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 10:58 pm:

The beat down Pritzker is going to give Rauner will be epic. 20,000 or so votes from a primary loss to an underfunded little known candidate.

  13. - Generation X - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:03 pm:

    -What path does he have?-

Short of the cops finding a dozen or so bodies in J.B.’s basement, Rauner doesn’t have a path. No accomplishments and about half the base alienated. This is a gimme for Pritzker

  14. - LL KOOL AID - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:04 pm:

Rage Against the Machine -Rauner 2018

  15. - piqued - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:09 pm:

And I was hoping to taunt all my liberal friends for being sexists and chauvinists for supporting a rich, white man with no experience (though gobs of inherited money) over a strong, experienced woman.

  16. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:12 pm:

Watching Rauner lose his money and his mind couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

If a legit conservative runs, I’ll vote for them.

  17. - Amalia - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:16 pm:

thank goodness that Ives is out of the news.

  18. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:26 pm:

–Tomorrow begins Jeanne’s independent candidacy, to play spoiler in the General.–

She can’t under the sore loser law. But someone who shares her views can, but it’s very difficult, by Dem/GOP bipartisan design.

  19. - Colin O'Scopy - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:31 pm:

Had Ives not run that first political ad introducing herself to the state, she’d be moving on to the General Election in November.

  20. - justacitizen - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:44 pm:

JB will win the general. But, no high bar for governor in Il (Blago-did we seriously elect him twice?, Quinn, Ryan and the rest of our jailbird governors.) Our sad state.

  21. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:46 pm:

Watched some WGN. That Pat Brady has some rather unambiguous opinions on Dan Proft, John Tillman and the horse they rode in on.

Drop a quarter in him and he would have played all night.

No worries. Rauner is going to do that unity thing. Take him at his word, right?

  22. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:52 pm:

Rauner being under water and nearly losing to Ives…

Unity or not, what GA member is going to campaign with Rauner this November?

  23. - Henry Francis - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:52 pm:

==But someone who shares her views can, but it’s very difficult, by Dem/GOP bipartisan design.==

I asked earlier today if anyone knows whether McCann voted today?

  24. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Mar 20, 18 @ 11:57 pm:

My guess is Rauner will try to run on all property taxes all the time.

I also guess that Dems and Republicans who can’t stand him will pass some veto-proof property tax “reform.” Maybe some other “reforms” without Rauner’s poison bills.

  25. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 12:00 am:

Radical Candor had a particularly hilarious proposal for Dick Uihlein about an hour ago. Borrowed it from Wallace Shawn in “Vegas Vacation,” I believe.

  26. - Practical Politics - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 12:09 am:

We can all look forward to Pritzker finally parting company with Berrios.

  27. - Ron - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 12:10 am:

Oof, looks like Cook County board is going to be even more in the palms of the public unions.

  28. - Bobio - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 12:12 am:

I’ve been in da game along time. Pritzker seems like a good guy.

  29. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 1:52 am:

That was about the worst night the GOP can Imagine.

  30. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 4:34 am:

Looking forward to voting for slow death over fast death this fall.

  31. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 7:33 am:

Ron - you ain’t kidding - they didn’t even have to field a respectable candidate to beat John Fritchey. Message loud and clear: any pushback whatsoever on union power will not be tolerated.

  32. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 7:44 am:

–Ron - you ain’t kidding - they didn’t even have to field a respectable candidate to beat John Fritchey.–

    What’s unrespectable about Degnen?

  33. - Rabid - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 8:34 am:

madigan hangs Rauner over the cliff, then brings him back to hang on GOP candidates necks

  34. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Mar 21, 18 @ 8:53 am:

–madigan hangs Rauner over the cliff,–

Madigan had little to do with Pritzker’s victory, and absolutely nothing to do with Ives’ strong showing.
