* Onward…
Today is Hug A Newsperson Day. Please celebrate responsibly. Hardworking independent journalists are one of last defenders of our democracy against creeping totalitarianism in today's crazy world. #TWILL
However please ask a newspaper person before you run up and just hug them. @rap30 gets weird when you come from behind and start bear hugging him. https://t.co/lcrOfQTdaU
In the spirt of today’s strange news, that doesn’t look like a hug from O’Connor, but more like a reenactment of Clemenza greeting Carlo from the back seat.

Finke looks like he is just hoping O’Connor is not going to do wardrobe makeover for him.
(I had no idea there was such a thing as “Hug a Medievalist Day”, but I like it. Next thing on my calendar is April 23’s “Talk Like Shakespeare Day” - which is celebrated on April 10 by Oxfordians.)
==The reporter’s reporter hugs the curmudgeon’s curmudgeon==
Finke’s weekly articles in the Peoria Journal Star are what got me hooked on Illinois politics. In his articles he reminds me of Mikey from the Life cereal commercials “he hates everything.”

Would be much more appreciated, I’m sure.

March 31st was hug a medievalist day and I missed out of getting a hug–not even one from my wife!

Leave it to Finke to be the only person on earth with a 2 toned phone. Symbolic of seeing things in black and white?

Curious if Kass and Proft count as news-people…

Aw, G’Kar - here’s a virtual {{{hug}}}.

>I don’t think I’ve ever seen Finke hugged. He looks so comfortable.
Yet John looks completely at ease.

I heard the Governor blamed Madigan for this idea.
Steve Brown said the Speaker’s idea was to give an apple to a reporter.
