Ivanka Trump to visit Godfrey with Rodney Davis

Monday, Aug 6, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller

* This is the second Trump family visit to the Metro East in recent days

First Daughter, and adviser to the president, Ivanka Trump is set to visit Godfrey on Wednesday, the White House said.

Trump is scheduled to be at the Weber Workforce Development Center at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey where she plans to participate in a roundtable discussion with 10 to 15 people, including U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, according to the White House.

About 250 people are expected to be in the audience of the invitation-only roundtable, the White House said.

The visit is part of the president’s Council for the American Worker initiative, which was signed via presidential executive order in July.

He’s running (perhaps not the best word in this context) against Mike Bost.

As the November election of 2018 quickly approaches the state of our healthcare remains a top issue that many people in the 6th District are very concerned about. The future of Medicaid and Medicare, saving and improving the Affordable Care Act, and women’s reproductive health – these are all issues that touch our lives, especially in light of the what will happen with our Supreme Court under a Trump administration.

On August 6th at 7 pm please join us for a 6th District Healthcare Forum at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. In addition to soliciting questions from you, the voters, we will be convening a panel of health care professionals from the 6th district to ask questions of the candidates running for office to find out their positions and ideas for what can be done to improve the health of all Americans.

* Rep. Rodney Davis confronted with protesters during office hours: About a dozen protesters said Davis focuses too much on the party and not enough on the issues effecting people in his district. They said there is a lot of miscommunication between his office and voters because he doesn’t hold enough town hall meetings. “Well when you have a job that takes you three weeks out of the state every month, it’s hard to have them all the time,” Davis said.

* Hultgren to host town hall meetings throughout 14th Congressional District: U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren will host a series of town hall meetings in locations throughout the 14th Congressional District while the House of Representatives is in recess for the month of August.

* Why Republicans Aren’t Planning for the Coming Mueller Report: “I can tell you here, in middle America, the majority of people I know aren’t talking about it,” Illinois Representative Rodney Davis echoed.

* Nobama?: The six people endorsed in Illinois were among more than 80 Obama endorsements across 14 states announced last week. As for Londrigan not being there? A source familiar with the process said it is fluid, and there shouldn’t be any assumptions based on this round. Obama’s announcement did say those he listed were the “first wave” of his choices.

    –First Daughter–

So what’s his other daughter, “Chopped Liver?”

There is no title, “First Daughter,” for crying out loud. Don’t feed their royal pretensions.

I’m sure he’ll make an impassioned appeal to ivanka for “civility”

  3. - Amalia - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 12:27 pm:

so many questions to ask her. overseas creation of her fashions (yes, even though done), jewelry and diamonds and potential money laundering, what exactly does she do for our country’s government? She is not a “first daughter.” she works in the government. she is accountable. those who use her for campaigns will be touched by her issues. they are many.

Maybe if they held the forum in the middle of IL 38 at rush hour some press might show up.

“Well when you have a job that takes you three weeks out of the state every month, it’s hard to have them all the time,” Davis said.

Poor Rodney. No one is asking you to have them “all” the time. How about every once in a while? And I guess those legislators who do have town hall meetings must be overachievers.

He’s also said he won’t meet with groups politically opposed to him. Good to know that he represents only Republicans in his district. The heck with the rest of us.

    Nick Name-

He supposedly said that WITH A GROUP THAT DISAGREES WITH HIM. Note, that actually isn’t his quote, it’s the reporters summary of what he said… while actually at a meeting with a group that disagrees with him.

  8. - just an fyi - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 12:43 pm:

The Trumps r very forgiving people. Recall Rodney Davis abandoned Trump a month before ‘16 election over the Access Hollywood tape thing.

  9. - Annonin' - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 12:48 pm:

Will Rodney let BossToss into his event? Surest sign a dude is in trouble is when national party sends celebs in to help out. Maybe they can see if there are any seperated children in the area while Mrs. T is there.

  10. - Wpeac - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 12:49 pm:

    Affecting, not effecting.

  11. - TooManyJens - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 12:51 pm:

===Asked if he was only visiting friendly groups, Davis said: “The last thing anyone does in my business is take advice from people who are politically opposed to you and have one agenda. It’s all about campaign politics.”===

That’s a quote from Davis in this article: http://www.sj-r.com/opinion/20180328/bernard-schoenburg-davis-says-he-sees-many-people-but-has-no-open-town-hall-plans

Basically, if you’re a constituent who doesn’t already agree with Davis, he doesn’t want to know what you think. He doesn’t think you have legitimate concerns that he as your representative should know about; no, it’s all “campaign politics.”

  12. - Annoyance - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 1:04 pm:

Davis must not realize that Ivanka is toxic couldn’t get people to buy her product at deep discounts, pretends to care but only after polling, and can’t spell having the money for spellchecker. Desperate…

  13. - illini - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 1:42 pm:

Just to counter the contention that Rodney made about being out of the District three weeks a month - the House has only in session and average of 138 days a year since 2001.

Poor excuse, in my opinion, for not holding town halls - and this goes for Mike Bost as well.

The full quotes are in the linked story and they support the summary in the lede.

” but haven’t been able to convince any media outlets to send reporters…”

The group sponsoring the meeting is appealing to supporters of …”improving the Affordable Care Act, and women’s reproductive health”, now you don’t have to do much reading between the lines to know that it will be a Democrat heavy event; no GOP officials have confirmed attendance Not surprised the media is taking a pass.

===know that it will be a Democrat heavy event===

    And your point is… ?

    And your point is… ?

An election forum dedicated to Healthcare issues with a one-sided audience, sponsor and guests is not exactly noteworthy

  18. - Lester Holt’s Mustache - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 2:43 pm:

Lol @ Texas Red. Because no one wants to have an official listen to more than half of their constituents. “Jeez I’d sure like to help with that pothole problem, sir, but unfortunately it looks like you’ve voted for the other party. You’ll have to wait until someone else gets elected before that can be fixed”

  19. - Arthur Andersen - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 4:44 pm:

Rodney and Ivanka. Talk about the Odd Couple.

  21. - Mama - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 6:25 pm:

Why are town-hall meetings always invitation-only? I thought our Congressmen/ women are suppose to represent all of the people in their districts.

  22. - Lester Holt’s Mustache - Monday, Aug 6, 18 @ 6:49 pm:

==I thought our Congressmen/ women are suppose to represent all of the people in their districts.==

Apparently only dems feel this way, Mama. See -Texas Red- comment above. Remember when dems got pilloried at town hall meetings while the ACA was being introduced? Republicans don’t have the stones to defend their policies in front of regular folks, they need a supportive crowd full of party faithful to do it.
