* 6:05 this morning…
* Four hours later…
* He is really catching heck for this advice on his Facebook page…
We are currently in SWFL. People in the path of the storm were told it was too late to evacuate quite some time ago. Please don’t spread advice that is ill-advised at best (and deadly at worst) to those in a state you know nothing about. You’ve done plenty to screw Illinois, don’t start on Florida.
Ouch.
…Adding… The tweet recommending evacuation has been taken down.

Yikes….sounds like the highways are clogged; must be some desperate people down there. Property damage sounds like a foregone conclusion, but here’s hoping the people trying to get out will be safe.
- Nick - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:21 pm:
Luckily I don’t think anyone in Florida is paying attention to what Bruce Rauner is saying, but yeesh.
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:23 pm:
Twitter only hurts, it rarely ever helps.
Who thought this was a good idea?
- A Jack - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:23 pm:
Rauner’s solution to the pension problem for pensioners who retired to Florida.
- 47th Ward - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:27 pm:
Technically his bad advice was only three hours late because of the whole Central time/Eastern time thing.
- Roman - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:33 pm:
In fairness to Rauner, his “friends” are more likely to be in West Palm Beach, not the panhandle. They have plenty of time to evacuate.
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:41 pm:
For crying out loud, BTIA(TM), bud out with your ignorance. This thing is real.
Do your jobs here, for once, instead of spreading confusing and bad information to Floridians in a deadly situation.
What’s wrong with you?
- Boone's is Back - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:43 pm:
Next he’s going to retweet something from Rick Scott about how climate change has nothing to do with this.

===Who thought this was a good idea?===
At this point we should just be hoping no one heeded his advice, and if they did — they no one was harmed for it.
- Moby - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:46 pm:
Is he really suggesting people go outside, get in their cars, and drive in 150+ mph winds and flooding?
- wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:50 pm:
At least the ding-dongs summoned the sense God gave a goose to delete the tweet after they were called out on it.
- Glengarry - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 2:53 pm:
I thought Rauner was still digging graves because of the Quincy Massacre
- Langhorne - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:03 pm:
These things happen
I am not in charge
Because……madigan

I thought Ol’ Nelly was in trouble down in Florida but now I feel like he’s going to win in November.
- SOIL M - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:19 pm:
Good thing no-one still listens to or believes anything Rauner says. And as far as people in FL it was probably never seen. They care even less about what he has to say.
I have been wrapped up watching this nearly nonstop since before noon and it has been devastating. The hotel that Weather Channel is across from and next door to in PCB is the one I, and many others from IL have stayed at many times over the last few years. It is a favorite of snowbirds, and glad to see it made it through without real major structural damage.
- DuPage Bard - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:24 pm:
You’re doing it wrong
- @misterjayem - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:30 pm:
Folks in Quincy understand that Rauner isn’t exactly known for his timely warnings.

- Anon221 - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:33 pm:
Rauner had to wait to tweet until the event was an immediate public health threat. /s
- Last Bull Moose p - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:35 pm:
Proving he cannot govern Florida or Illinois. Incompetence on display.
- AlfondoGonz - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:49 pm:
Madigan and the hurricanes he controls.
- El Conquistador - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 3:49 pm:
Wow. The mope alert has been triggered. Again.
- Elliott Ness - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 4:12 pm:
Superstar communications, in a loooong line of superstars. LOL
- Rauner jr - Wednesday, Oct 10, 18 @ 4:13 pm:
Hey, pops hasn’t had the chance to cause deaths in Florida since his nursing home biz days, he’s just trying to get his fix.
