  1. - Stark - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:53 am:

Dorothy Brown dealing in corrupt practices? Imagine that.

  2. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:54 am:

When you pay circulators by the signature, this is what you should expect.

  3. - Just Me - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:55 am:

Brown entered the race just as an excuse to raise money to help pay her legal fees.

  4. - OneMan - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:56 am:

That is, however, some fine penmanship. Wonder why they decided to even include it.

  5. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:56 am:

Do they still get to wear jeans on Friday?

  6. - DeseDemDose - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:57 am:

    A+ for Penmanship.

  7. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:57 am:

Somebody’s going to jail… not you, Dorothy. Yet.

  8. - Anon221 - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:58 am:

Whoever did this couldn’t even follow the instructions for “Printed” and “Signature” sections on the form. Yeesh.

  9. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:01 am:

The circulator and notary… c’mon, one of ya had to realize… “no, this won’t fly”

Brown is under investigation, no one thought someone would investigate her petitions?

  10. - Give Me A Break - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:01 am:

I’ve seen more variation in HS hall passes.

  11. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:01 am:

The winning comment to that tweet is the one that asked if she used carbon paper.

  12. - Iggy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:02 am:

to be cute and try to fool the petition judge they even have one signature in the address line, because that’s what happens on the real ones. see see look at this one specific mistake doesn’t it look soooo authentic.

  13. - Ok - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:02 am:

They just had the same handwriting teacher in elementary school.

  14. - Montrose - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:07 am:

So, how would Orr’s proposed electronic signature system deal with this? The system would instantly verify if the person had signed a petition already and if they are a registered Chicago voter, but would it know if they are fake signatures? I am guessing you would still need a review after they are turned in to determine that.

  15. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:10 am:

First-class stupid in the service of low-rent shenanigans.

  16. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:14 am:

Ya get what you pay for.

  17. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:14 am:

All the sigs are on the “printed name” line, and vice versa.

    Spectacular fraudulent incompetence.

  18. - A guy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:22 am:

Seems like you could wrap up the whole case on Throop Street, no?

  19. - OneMan - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:22 am:

Dana Placo just tweeted one that appears to have come from the messy table.

  20. - Cant wait - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:24 am:

I’m looking forward to how many candidates had the same circulators, who had the same signatures, etc..

  21. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:27 am:

–Dana Placo just tweeted one that appears to have come from the messy table.–

Those are Clerk petitions from 2015. So there’s precedent here.

  22. - Stones - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:31 am:

Hey give her a break! I bet it took at least 2 nights work to fill all those out herself.

  23. - Flynn's Mom - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:50 am:

Dorothy hasn’t changed a bit over the years. Well, maybe she is even more corrupt than ever. Can I get a curry goat with this signature, Dorothy?

  24. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 11:52 am:

5738 S. Throop is a vacant lot. I love this city.

  25. - lakeside - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 12:03 pm:

“5738 S. Throop is a vacant lot. I love this city.”

Now that is good petitioning. *kisses fingers like a chef*

  26. - City Zen - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 12:07 pm:

    ==5738 S. Throop is a vacant lot==

That’s across the street from 5738. And next to 5738. In fact, 5738 is flanked with vacant homes, so cut them some slack. They exist.

  27. - @misterjayem - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 12:08 pm:

Brown’s campaign says they’re all legit according to an affidavit signed by Epstein’s Mother.

    – MrJM

  28. - Driving a Car - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 12:30 pm:

I’m starting to think that Dorothy Brown may not be a serious contender for Mayor of Chicago

  29. - Archpundit - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 1:32 pm:

Clearly someone older than a millennial as the cursive is readable (GenX here with neither readable cursive or printing)

  30. - anon2 - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 1:33 pm:

    === Somebody’s going to jail… ===

In the county of Cook, don’t be so sure. If the SAO prosecuted such cases, the way, say, the DuPage SAO does, then such flagrant fraud would be deterred.

  31. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 1:37 pm:

If you can’t do the little things right…

  32. - Just Observing - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 1:47 pm:

Most likely done by a paid or forced (e.g. Clerk’s office employee) circulator, and not directed by the campaign. But incredibly stupid and/or negligent for the campaign not to have caught it.

  33. - Southsider - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 2:00 pm:

Dig into who was working the paid circulators…could it be a well know pollster/fraudster? Old habits die hard.

  34. - AiH - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 2:39 pm:

If Mendoza gets kicked off the ballot, does that prove she isn’t Madigan’s candidate? Because there is no way his candidate would file an insufficient number of signatures.

  35. - Eire17 - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 3:07 pm:

they just got lucky I guess that so many people were home on throop that day

  36. - City Zen - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 3:19 pm:

    Deandre D’Tycoon D’Mendoza for Mayor

  37. - Anon221 - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 3:20 pm:

Foolish on the part of both campaigns. These sheets never should have made it to filing except in File 13.

  38. - Precinct Captain - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 3:49 pm:

I’m shocked Mendoza had so few petitions.

  39. - Chicago Cynic - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:04 pm:

“These sheets never should have made it to filing except in File 13.”

    Amen.

  40. - jimmydean - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:09 pm:

rememeber in the last election..the dems screamed there is no voter fraud…

  41. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:18 pm:

they have these sorts of signatures in judicial petitions in cook county and even then the clerk lets them in. its ridiculous and disheartening - all roundtables.

  42. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:19 pm:

Looks like Mendoza contracted with the same top-flight outfit.

From what I understand, she only filed double the minimum to begin with. The pack is going to be all over her sigs.

  43. - Rollcall - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:32 pm:

Oh man, if Mendoza petitions look like that….yikes. Amateur. Not the work product of seasoned and disciplined Minions, that’s for sure.

  44. - Whatever - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:54 pm:

I knew the BTIA ™ all needed new jobs, but who woulda thought they’d be petition circulators for Democrats?

  45. - Anonny - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 6:23 pm:

    - jimmydean - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 4:09 pm:

rememeber in the last election..the dems screamed there is no voter fraud…

Please explain how this is an example of voter fraud.

  46. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 6:34 pm:

Anonny you can begin by reading the top part of the “signed” form. It does state “We, the unsigned, being the duly qualified and registered voters of the City of Chicago”.

  47. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 6:36 pm:

    Meant undersigned, not unsigned.

  48. - Anono - Wednesday, Nov 28, 18 @ 10:59 pm:

    Similar/same hand-writing and other questions notwithstanding….

Shouldn’t journalists be blacking out these people’s addresses?

Should the state update it’s election laws to protect candidates’ and others’ privacy?

Now the whole world knows where Dorothy Brown and Susanna Mendoza live. And if these voters are legit and the circulators are real we know where they live too.

In this day and age posting all that personal info online strikes me as bad form on the part of the media.

  49. - Anonymous - Thursday, Nov 29, 18 @ 12:00 am:

Anyone else notice Menodoza’s petition form is incorrect as Hudson stated that she lived in the Chicago of Chicago?

  50. - Kristi King - Friday, Nov 30, 18 @ 12:43 pm:

If you notice on Browns petition the first column is supposed to be the signature and the second column is supposed to be printed, it’s just the opposite for all names, not including it is all written by the same person. And on Mendozas in each of the columns 1 and 2 they are both printed, and again, the same person filled these out. You aren’t fooling anyone ladies.
