Rauner deletes his account
Thursday, Jan 17, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller * Not sure what the standard procedure is these days…
You get a “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist” message when you try to visit the page. Deleting it is probably for the better. Lots of negativity emanated from that account, so Twitter’s karmic quotient just improved. /s …Adding… Same with FB…

Is it recorded somewhere? Wouldn’t that record be subject to FOIA? It’s public record right? You can’t delete or shred staff memos?
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:23 pm:
===It’s public record right? ===
It’s a campaign account. Try reading.

Shutting things down is what he always did best

As long as Radical Candor stays on the web, the Rauner era will not be forgotten.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:28 pm:
He gone…
…
… he… gone.
- Norseman - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:35 pm:
Now, can we get the Men in Black to use the flashy thingy to rid us of all memories of Rauner.
- curtis - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:36 pm:
Everyone should delete their account tbh…
- Al - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:38 pm:
If only it were as easy to erase the real pain he inflicted upon the most vulnerable in our society.
- ste_wit a v_en - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:44 pm:
Instagram and YouTube are still up. For now
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 5:49 pm:
Maybe it still exists… he just …blocked the world…
- wordslinger - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:11 pm:
I doubt we’ll see or hear much from him in the future. He got beat like a rented mule, and I doubt his ego wants too much reminding of that.
Plus, he burned just about every bridge with his own peeps. Unless he starts writing checks again in a big way, who’s going to seek him out?
- illini - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:12 pm:
@Willy - I think we both agree that this is a good move - He is gone.
Yet the destruction he was totally responsible for causing in this state remains and we now have to pick up the pieces and make things better.

Lots of work to do. Excited for the “Four Tops” and Pritzker to do some heavy lifts…
… as Rauner deletes himself… on twitter.
- Retired Educator - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:20 pm:
He didn’t care what we had to say when he was Governor, he cares less now. Glad that we don’t have to endure his trolling in the future.
- Brendan - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:23 pm:
Good. I hope I never hear his name again.
- Ole' Nelson - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:30 pm:
He actually restored my faith in the Illinois electorate. I felt like he was getting away with his Harley-riding, “every man” shtick for the first year or two. I am very proud of the voters of Illinois who saw through his charade. I realize not everyone is interested enough in the minute details of politics to spend time on an excellent blog such as this, and I was worried that his money would allow him to dupe the masses. Grateful for a large percentage of Illinois voters figuring out he was a phony.

….and nothing of value was lost…. heard he stopped by Obed’s one last time, and, out of sheer habit, vetoed everything on the menu.
- Huh? - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 6:46 pm:
Deleting the accounts means nothing. The internet is eternal. The pages are stored somewhere in the cloud, screen shots, retweets, Google archives, etc. With enough digging, the accounts are recoverable.

Rauner Resonates.
He won’t be forgotten.
He didn’t go to prison — yet — but that’s the only positive. The Quincy debacle is still an open question.
- Token Conservative - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 7:06 pm:
Friend saw him in O’Hare tonight heading down an escalator in Terminal 3. Maybe off to Italy.
- Anonymous - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 7:07 pm:
He banned himself.
- Excessively Rabid - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 7:14 pm:
Good riddance. But this might be a good time to remember what kind of shape the state was in before he showed up. That is, very bad.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 7:15 pm:
Meh.
Rauner will rebrand himself…
…
Like “New Coke”
- JS Mill - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 7:33 pm:
Buh . Bye.

“I doubt we’ll see or hear much from him in the future. ”
- With respect, I don’t think we’ve heard the last of his money.
- Pekin Pete - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 8:36 pm:
He essentially tried to do the same thing to his campaign in June/July.
- Generic Drone - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 8:43 pm:
If we could only delete his governorship.
- Just Me 2 - Thursday, Jan 17, 19 @ 11:36 pm:
Instead of complaining that he left, let’s just be happy that he did.
- PublicServant - Friday, Jan 18, 19 @ 4:56 am:

Disposable legacy
- Annonin' - Friday, Jan 18, 19 @ 7:48 am:
As long as GovJunk still letting the GOPies and the CarWashKing use his cash we will be remember the nightmare that was.
Terminal 3? Where is he “flying” Des Moines? 2020 on his mind? TTFN

Unwanted, unloved and unmourned.

- StormsWx - Friday, Jan 18, 19 @ 8:13 am:
Why is this news? Who cares if the campaign deleted the account? Probably changed the phone number on his business cards, too… He’s not an elected official anymore - doesn’t feel the need to use that venue of social media anymore.

In the time it took you to post that, a number of clouds passed over your house un-yelled at.
- Ron Burgundy - Friday, Jan 18, 19 @ 8:43 am:
People have been telling him “delete your account” for years, and when he finally takes their advice they complain. Poor guy can’t win, jeez. /s

Someone just peered in my office to see what I was laughing about. This also seems like an appropriate reply to some of Schneider’s recent press releases.

Thanks for playing Bruce!

He just said, “That is that” like the Cat in the hat, but he didn’t clean up his mess first.

BVR flying off to Anzac
