A progressive income tax proposal introduced by state Rep. Robert Martwick, D-Chicago, would constitute a tax hike for a vast majority of Illinois taxpayers, starting with individuals earning as little as $17,300 (for a single filer with no dependents).
* Well, the Illinois Policy Institute is still making hay out of it…

Gov. Pritzker and Illinois politicians are selling a progressive income tax as a "tax on the rich."
But one proposal would hike income taxes on Illinoisans earning as little as $17,300 a year.

Kinda off topic, but you should watch his facebook video he released last Oct. where he lays out the numbers and says under one (the latest?) proposal the cutoff for a tax increase would be people making about $65k a year. If those numbers hold up it wouldn’t be so bad.

While I’m not defending Rep. Martwick’s poor decision to join Lightfoot’s press conference (he should have run this by a few people before proceeding…), I’m not sure Lori Lightfoot’s demonstrating qualities I’d like to see in a Mayor here.

Martwick supported a CTU backed aldermanic challenger in the 46th Ward who came in third after spending 80K.
I thought it was a Polinia ethnic solidarity move on his part, but it was more a CTU/Preckwinkle move.
Thanks Bob please support the challenger in the runoff so I can assure the incumbent will hit 60 percent.

The Martwick blunder, along with the Sun-Times endorsement, helped spark late-campaign energy for Lori’s campaign. Also, voters undecided and fed up with politics-as-usual had an option with her.
She’s got to be considered the favorite given the mood of the electorate.
