    Best trade ever!

  2. - SSL - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:14 am:

If Joe keeps treating Descalso and Cargo as everyday players, the Cubs are done. And Caratini is not Contreras, but Joe needs to show everyone he’s a genius. I won’t miss him a bit.

  3. - Ravenswood Right Winger - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:17 am:

I enjoyed walking home from Wrigley Field last night. Well pitched game by both teams. Cubs lineup 5-9 is real poor.

Kinda mad that the White Sox didn’t put Moncada on the 10 day DL. Didn’t look right at the plate. Hopefully Giolito sweeps the leg tonight!

  4. - No Dog in the Hunt - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:18 am:

One team on it’s way up, one team on it’s way down.

    Snappy 2:44.

  6. - Michael J. Madigan - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:22 am:

    Gox Sox

  7. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:27 am:

Eloy is a stud. He was struggling a bit to start the season with off speed pitches. Now that he has got that figured out though, he is gonna crush the rest of the league.

  8. - So_Ill - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:29 am:

When was the last time the White Sox were in the playoff picture and played in October? Asking for a friend…

These games mean nothing, unless of course you don’t have an actual rival in your own league and have a huge inferiority complex.

  9. - Ducky LaMoore - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:31 am:

I can’t remember the last time I felt this way… maybe ‘07. The Sox are actually fun and will probably be pretty competitive next year. Those Twins are scary right now though. Where did their pitching come from?

  10. - PJ - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:31 am:

    ==These games mean nothing==

    Let me taste those tears

  11. - Rutro - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:36 am:

    love it!

  12. - Jose Abreu's Next Homerun - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:39 am:

    Dear Ricky Renteria…..stop bunting

  13. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:39 am:

The Sox couldn’t have won it in a better way, and the Cubs lost in typical Cubs fashion. Pedro Strop continues to demonstrate that, like his cap, his head isn’t on straight either.

  14. - SAP - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:40 am:

That was a horse-bleep interference call on Jose Abreu. Sweet to get the win even with the umps helping the Cubs.

  15. - Joe Bidenopolous - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:44 am:

===Sweet to get the win even with the umps helping the Cubs.===

The victimhood and insecurity is strong in this one.

  16. - OneMan - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:47 am:

Guess I missed the day where the MLB announced you get more “credit” for beating a “rival” or a team with a better record, is it like a win in that case is counted as two wins or something?

You understand this isn’t college football, right?

  17. - DE - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:47 am:

    Forecast for this evening-
    Lester gets the W
Giolito returns to ‘18 form in L

  18. - So_Ill - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:52 am:

    OneMan-Divisions, how do they work??

The Cubs didn’t lose a single game in the standings last night, because, you know, the Sox aren’t a division rival and that game meant just as much as losing to Rangers in March.

I’m sure you can see how a loss to the Cardinals or Brewers means a lot more than a loss to the Sox, right?

On the other hand, this was the biggest Sox win in a decade. Haha

  19. - ChicagoVinny - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 9:54 am:

Luis Robert won the Southern League all star game MVP same day. Last Sox player to do that - Tim Anderson.

It’s true these games don’t mean all that much but the Cubs are a useful measuring stick for a team like the Sox and it sure feels good to beat them.

  20. - Stones - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:00 am:

Loved it! Eloy is going to be a beast for years to come.

  21. - The Magnificent Purple Walnut - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:05 am:

    Fly the L.

  22. - Amalia - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:12 am:

believe me, I loved that Eloy blast…and the score on the Baez miss missile. but I am most heartened by the Sox pitching. starter did ok enough. Bummer is fantastic. and put the closer in Column A because, yeah. pitching has been the Sox weak point, understandable with the awful injuries. not last night.

  23. - truthteller - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:15 am:

Now Cubs are facing the best starting pitcher in the AL this season. Big game for Sox and Giolito as he pitches to bring Sox back to .500 and Cubs closer to it.

  24. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:15 am:

The ONLY thing I don’t love about this: Quintana is taking too much flak - he actually saved the Cubs season in 2017 and but-for others not doing their jobs the Cubs should have been back in the World Series. Had they won it, the deal would have been at least a “win-win” even if Q had never won another game. He still eats innings and helps solidify a very suspicious starting rotation.

  25. - Veil of Ignorance - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:15 am:

Quintana is a quality arm so i still view that trade as a win-win. But I’m excited about Eloy’s power…just hope he starts making contact more often.

  26. - A State Employee Guy - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:31 am:

Kimbrel cannot get here fast enough.

  27. - Joe Bidenopolous - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 10:48 am:

===Now Cubs are facing the best starting pitcher in the AL this season.===

Justin Verlander and his 0.74 WHIP would like to have a word with you

=When was the last time the White Sox were in the playoff picture and played in October? Asking for a friend…

These games mean nothing, unless of course you don’t have an actual rival in your own league and have a huge inferiority complex.=

LOL, talk to me is you go less than 108 years between World Series wins.

=Justin Verlander and his 0.74 WHIP would like to have a word with you=

Fair enough, but Giolito is in the team photo for best and that does not suck.

  29. - Jose Abreu's Next Homerun - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 11:18 am:

Cubs had 8 months to sign Kimbrel but chose to wait until after the draft.

  30. - Lefty Lefty - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 11:49 am:

    ==These games mean nothing==

CHC went 4-2 against the 100-loss CHW. 1 more win meant a tie with the Brewers. Win them all and they would have won the division.

All the games matter when you’re trying to get into the playoffs.

  31. - Lefty Lefty - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 11:50 am:

    * last season, of course.

  32. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 12:21 pm:

The Sox players at least get pumped for these games, so it is more than the average game. It is nice to see the Sox and Ricky execute really well in a game like this. Good test for future playoff games.

  33. - SPI Transplant - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 12:34 pm:

As someone without a dog in this fight (not a fan of the team overlooking the arch, either)…

I’ll keep sipping my tea and watch this thread for the next few days.

When was the last time the White Sox were in the playoff picture and played in October? Asking for a friend…
    ———–

2008–when both the Sox and Cubs were playing in the first week of October, while the Cardinals were stuck watching at home.

  35. - SAP - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 2:52 pm:

==The victimhood and insecurity is strong in this one.== No, just nice to see the Sox totally unfazed by a bad call that cost them at least one run. Last year, something like that would have thrown them off the rails. I realize that the Cubs are the better team, for now, but the Sox are on the rise and the gap between the 2 teams is closing.

  36. - theCardinal - Wednesday, Jun 19, 19 @ 4:01 pm:

Cubs can’t or don’t run and it will cost them this today and thisseason. Sox can steal 4-5 against Cubs today.. Run Ricky Run !
