Conspiracy theorist planned to set off a bomb in Illinois Statehouse last December

Tuesday, Aug 13, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller

* I told subscribers about this earlier today

An FBI intelligence bulletin specifically cited the pro-Trump QAnon and Pizzagate conspiracy theory groups in a memo warning such groups pose a domestic terrorist threat.

The document, issued by the FBI’s Phoenix field office on May 30 and published by Yahoo News on Thursday, warns that “conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists” pose a growing threat. […]

The FBI also cited an unnamed California man arrested with bomb-making materials in his vehicle in 2018. The man planned to “blow up a satanic temple monument” in the state capitol rotunda in Springfield, Illinois, in order to “make Americans aware of Pizzagate and the New World Order, who were dismantling society.”

Click here to read that FBI report. The endnotes explain that the unidentified man was arrested by the Seaside, California police department. Click here for background on that Satanic Temple-Chicago monument in the Rotunda last December. The “New World Order” is, among other things, part of that bizarre QAnon conspiracy.

* I also followed up with the Secretary of State’s office, as did Doug Finke. From his story

Illinois officials said Tuesday they were aware of a 2018 threat to set off a bomb in the state Capitol rotunda directed at a satanic display there last Christmas season.

Dave Druker, spokesman for Secretary of State Jesse White, whose office provides security at the Capitol, said federal authorities notified the office of the threat.

“We tightened up security around the building,” Druker said.

Nothing happened in Springfield as a result of the threat. However, a man in California was arrested in connection with the incident.

At some point, someone in the GOP is going to have come out with force and rebuke the fringe that seems to have taken over their party. Trump won’t do it, GOP office holders won’t do it so who does that leave?

My questions to the GOP is, what happens to your party when Trump either gets beat or finishes his second term? Do you really think you will get your party back from what those you have allowed to take it over?

    “Trump won’t do it”

Trump purposely inspires terrorism, or very irresponsibly at the least. He uses the world’s most powerful office to give signals to sick people that it’s okay to injure, kill and threaten certain people. He does that by repeatedly demonizing people of color and using language that they are less than human, like infestation, and invasion, like they’re an enemy bent on taking us over. He does it with the news media, too (enemy of the people). That’s already been demonstrated with the MAGAbomber, synagogue shooter and El Paso.

    Pure foolishness.

As stories from the Seaside area go, I much prefer Cannery Row.

Very thankfully, the incident didn’t happen in the Capitol.

Elected officials have a responsibility to be a calming and rational influence. White supremacy and other radical and deranged views are certainly not caused by the president, but he and other leaders must conduct themselves in a manner to calm things down and not stoke things up.

This is the GOP now. If whatever mainstream members who are left haven’t rebuked it by this point, they aren’t going to.

The president is the main person doing the stoking. And no one tells him no.

When will people figure out that this is what the Republican Party is now?

It’s called “stochastic terrorism” if you want to search for studies on it, there’s a lot of them.

We should be calling on Rep Bryant and Reb Severin to very specifically denounce this would be terrorist after they wrote a resolution condemning the freedom of religion in this state.

From former Homeland Security counterterrorism official Nate Snyder: “Nearly all, if not all, the intelligence analysts focusing on domestic extremist groups were eliminated by Trump appointees. There is no one there doing this.”
