* The Democratic County Chairs Association continued Illinois’ unfortunate tradition of state fair typos yesterday…

* I’m heading out to Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair. Keep your comments Illinois-centric and please be nice to each other. Thanks.

    Beautiful shirt.

  2. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 11:59 am:

    Higher gas taxes.
    Higher liscence plate renewal fees.
Higher tax on vehicle trade in.

  3. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:00 pm:

With Republican Day at the state fair in full swing, i ask myself “What can the state party do when the national party is so racially charged, and some here are trying to make that racially charged foundation the state party itself? What can be done here in Illinois to save the state GOP from itself?”

See, I ask that as the breakfast had folks so angry, so racially charged, so vulgar and vile in rhetoric, and I’ll grant you it’s a partisan affair and partisan rhetoric is one thing, but this ignoring or inviting such persons and words… what can be done to save the ILGOP from itself?

  4. - Paul S - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:14 pm:

Isn’t this just a play on JB “Think Big” slogan? That’s how I read it.

  5. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:20 pm:

Any confederate flags at the Republican day rally?

  6. - The 5th Deputy Governor - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:21 pm:

I agree with Paul S. I think that was intentional.

  7. - Just Saying - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:29 pm:

    Hmmmm

  8. - Lester Holt’s Mustache - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:40 pm:

==Any confederate flags at the Republican day rally?==

If there isn’t, they can get some at the “Trump Shop.com” stand just down the road from the fairgrounds entrance at the corner of Dirksen and Sangamon. They had several for sale when they opened last Thursday afternoon

  9. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:50 pm:

    Another concern?

The ILGOP has a banner with Pritzker, Madigan, and Pelosi.

What do all THREE have in common?

    They are winners right now.

Madigan is at his most powerful. Never has Michael J Madigan had more Democratic House seats… then now

Pritzker just finished arguably one of the most ambitious and accomplished legislative sessions, no matter how you feel on the legislation or policy. Got bipartisan support because actual GOP members, some, knew they had to be Green

Pelosi is Speaker. Again. Not only the first woman to be Speaker, she regains the gavel again.

The more Illinois Raunerites try to vilify, the ILGOP paid for a banner of winners… of the other party.

Being “against” isn’t the way to 60 and 30…

  10. - none - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:57 pm:

    Not an error.

  11. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 12:58 pm:

If your a fan of the GOP there is hope. There is no place to go but up.

  12. - threat level midnight - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 1:05 pm:

yea, it think that was intentional. Clumsy perhaps, but not a typo.

  13. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 1:10 pm:

I guess another way to look at that whole banner thingy is…

The ILGOP are too scared to have a banner of Donald Trump on it, but are willing to have vile rhetoric spoken from its breakfast podium… like Trump?

  14. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 1:33 pm:

Trump is a poison on democracy.

  15. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:05 pm:

    I will keep ya’ll posted.

Although not super involved in the day to day operations of the family owned farm, we were granted a small bit of acreage to grow hemp. Certainly labor intense, our inaugural crop shows promise. Two things gotta happen for this to pan out. The THC level has to test below .3% and we have to find a buyer.

  16. - Donnie Elgin - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:14 pm:

What do all THREE have in common?

Well two of them under federal investigations

  17. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:18 pm:

One man’s small “bit” is another man’s section?

  18. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:19 pm:

===Well two of them under federal investigations===

    So.. that’s not ALL three.

How sad of a party must be to lose to two of them.

    You’re not helping. Honest.

  19. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:20 pm:

Honest to goodness…this is what governing looks like.

  20. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:24 pm:

Looks like tickets are still available for the Confederate Railroad upcoming gig.

  21. - Dotnonymous - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:26 pm:

    - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:24 pm:

Looks like tickets are still available for the Confederate Railroad upcoming gig.

    I hope it pours rain.

  22. - west wing - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:31 pm:

The irony is that IDCCA pays more staff and consultants than they have in the history of the organization.

  23. - Concerned Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:43 pm:

Dems intentionally leave out a noun on the back of a shirt and the GOP embraces two US Senate candidates that refuse to hide their racism. Yep… pretty darn embarrassing for both. (Snark heavily implied)

  24. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 2:52 pm:

Its good to know that the shooting suspect in Philadelphia couldnt have done such a thing in Illinois. He never would have been able to obtain a FOID card

  25. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 3:03 pm:

Any signs that say “I’m with Trump, Free Blago” at the rally?

  26. - 360 Degree TurnAround - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 3:13 pm:

If the dems wanted to have fun they should have paid about 15 people to take signs in for the state fair rally that said “free blago”.

  27. - Blue Dog Dem - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 3:23 pm:

Yesterday someone commented on JB’s sense of humor. I agree. How about this zinger he dropped at Governors day.

JB: did you hear my toilet was stolen?

JB: now the police have nothing to go on.

  28. - Seats - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 3:32 pm:

Considering he always used to say “I’m thinking big” I think the wording is intentional.

  29. - Lt. Guv - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 5:13 pm:

Blue Dog - you do realize that moment has passed? Maybe not.

  30. - Keyrock - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 6:11 pm:

Is the most recent Republican governor there?

  31. - Just Me 2 - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 6:49 pm:

Ahern is reporting a Blago commutation is still a possibility. That would be a dream come true for whoever wins the Democratic nomination for President. The commercials write themselves.

  32. - JoanP - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 7:14 pm:

    @Just Me @ -

According to the Trib, he’s “still reviewing” it: https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/ct-donald-trump-rod-blagojevich-commutation-20190815-epgcisq3c5b3fbgx36nwoy4rzi-story.html

And if LaHood really believes this: “I think the president is a good listener. I think he likes to listen to all sides”, he’s living in Fantasy Land.

  33. - MushyMiddle - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 9:41 pm:

ILGOP went full tiki torch this year. Sad really

  34. - grammarr police - Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 10:33 pm:

At the Main Gate today was a sign that said: “Republican’s Day”.

Suggesting they’re down to just the one guy, I guess.

  35. - Cheryl 44 - Friday, Aug 16, 19 @ 7:07 am:

WBEZ is reporting Jesse White won’t run next year

  36. - InsertNameHere - Friday, Aug 16, 19 @ 11:02 am:

That’s definitely not a typo. Dumb, sure, but not unintentional.
