Maybe somebody ought to regulate this before it’s thrust on an unknowing public?
Thursday, Sep 26, 2019 - Posted by Rich Miller * Aside from the fact that owners are supposed to have a direct-line view to their summoned car (wanna bet that they’ll always follow the rule?), notice that this automated system sent the car the wrong way down a one-way passage…

You have to love the car going the wrong way. So basically the Tesla drives itself like all the old people at the grocery store?
And who is the genius at Tesla that decided this was a good video?
Sell your stock.

Rich, stop carrying the water for “Big Valet” …

How many people have been killed via Tesla’s auto-pilot mode?
- 47th Ward - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:30 pm:
What could possibly go wrong?
- SpfdNewb - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:36 pm:
No worse than what I see almost daily in Springfield. Maybe Tesla needs to not hire programmers taught how to drive in Central Illinois?

But I thought all regulation is bad? Let the free market decide
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:41 pm:
===Let the free market decide ===
When some moron is remote-driving his goofy car down a public street, that’s not a free market decision.
- The Big Salad - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:41 pm:
For a second I assumed this was about that *drug* that you and others want to universalize with nary a respite, and not the revolutionary technology that could vastly improve our safety and environment.
- 47th Ward - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:46 pm:
BS, one of these is a harmless plant and the other is a 3000 pound moving vehicle with no one at the controls. But other than that, it’s the same thing.
- The Way I See It - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:49 pm:
Self driving cars are not that far off and there needs to be some serious thought about how to decide which ones get on the road instead of waiting for bodies to pile up.

LOL, restaurant quality.

===Self driving cars are not that far off===
They’re quite far off, if ever, actually. What isn’t far off are fake self driving cars like this one. And that’s supremely dangerous.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 3:51 pm:
BS, cannabis is being regulated to the max.

=Self driving cars are not that far off and there needs to be some serious thought about how to decide which ones get on the road instead of waiting for bodies to pile up.= A friend of mine who was in school for a MPA/MPP said it the best, “Regulations are written in blood”.

Vaping, too. Self-driving cars are much more dangerous to bystanders.
- Dotnonymous - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 4:14 pm:
Ban self driving anything…Humans had better take hold of the steering wheel and “drive’ themselves…or become lumps of adipose tissue being jockeyed to…and fro…by bots…humbug.
- Soccermom - Thursday, Sep 26, 19 @ 4:59 pm:
Nice, City Zen.

Tesla, please come pick me up. Human, please hurry, I think I ran over someone on the way. I need you to get in the car quickly. (So you are blamed, not me)

Rich, bet you an excellent bottle of single malt scotch that there is a viable version ready in less than 10 years

Self driving cars can reduce accidents I believe. Distracted driving etc. Will accidents go to zero? No. Will self driving cars kill less people than are killed in auto accidents now? That is the question.
- Da Big Bad Wolf - Friday, Sep 27, 19 @ 6:36 am:
I can’t see self driving vehicles ever working unless we also build a whole separate infrastructure for them, their own highways, parking lots, etc.
How can a machine ever react to all the nuances on a typical crowded city street?
- Big Joe - Friday, Sep 27, 19 @ 8:13 am:
I totally agree with you, BBW.
- revvedup - Friday, Sep 27, 19 @ 8:56 am:
Must be using Windows 10 in the guidance system.
Self-driving cars are a solution in search of a problem, and causing new problems.
