* Go Sox…

Fingers crossed that the swoon is over and we’ll get back to winning.

Some are saying the White Sox are better off in Oakland because several of their better players are not cold weather players. Apparently Luis Roberts has never played baseball when the temperature is in the 40s or low 50s.

  2. - walker - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:35 am:

OK we rested up for the last eight games. Now we wake up.

  3. - bogey golfer - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:37 am:

    1. Eloy has to be in the starting lineup.
    2. Giolito and Keichel need to be solid for 6+ innings.
    3. Bullpen has to step up, No excuses.

  4. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:40 am:

The Cubs need super-strong starting pitching and the bats to do “enough” to reward great starting pitching.

The bullpen will be a glaring positive or negative, probably not irrelevant.

    Truly giddy, let’s play ball.

  5. - Andersonville Right Winger - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:44 am:

I’m not optimistic about the White Sox. they never seem to play well in Oakland. Go Marlins!

  6. - Joe Bidenopolous - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:52 am:

After basically getting shut down for three straight games against the worst team in baseball, Pittsburgh, Cubs’ bats finally came alive and they won 2 of 3 against a Sox team motivated to win. That’s encouraging. We’ll see if the bats go silent again or not tomorrow

  7. - Stu - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 10:57 am:

Sox get to face a lefty in game 1…there’s 1/2 the wins they need.

Marlins have never lost a playoff series. That streak ends here.

  8. - Anthony Rizzo's Hair - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:01 am:

    Go Cubs.

  9. - Dan - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:11 am:

Fingers crossed for a Crosstown Series. Hey, given all the other 2020 insanity, why not?

  10. - Ok - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:16 am:

I thought the postseason started tomorrow

  11. - Northsider - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:16 am:

I’m not sure that paraphrasing Wid Matthews is the road you want to take.

  12. - Amalia - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:20 am:

day game. so this erases the memory of going to sleep with the radio on while the Sox lost to Oakland too many times in the ’70s. Go Sox!

  13. - levivotedforjudy - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:21 am:

The Sox could be dangerous because they really shouldn’t feel much pressure and are playing with house money. The Cubs on the other hand probably sense the breaking up of their core, but they have been there before. My Cardinals - man they have to be running on fumes.

  14. - Skeptic - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:55 am:

“I thought the postseason started tomorrow” Well, today is Tsljfkhaihggsday after all.

  15. - Centennial - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 11:57 am:

It would be very 2020 to end up with a crosstown World Series, and no one can physically attend.

  16. - The Zipper - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 12:06 pm:

I really hope they don’t keep the expanded playoffs. One of my biggest complaints with sports like hockey and basketball is that the regular season is rendered sort of meaningless when half the teams make the playoffs

  17. - Nathan - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 12:47 pm:

I just have to jump in here in all this Cubs/Sox talk…

    Cardinals!!!

  18. - Chatham Resident - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 12:54 pm:

The Cards and Padres have only met 3 times in the postseason (1996, 2005, 2006), but in those meetings St. Louis has dominated San Diego, going 9-1 in those three series:

  19. - Chatham Resident - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 12:56 pm:

==1. Eloy has to be in the starting lineup.==

Eloy is out for Game 1:

  20. - west wing - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 1:13 pm:

The Cards coming back from their COVID crisis to land in post season is truly amazing, They have to be fired up to have their first day off in a month,

  21. - Justin - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 1:26 pm:

I hope to see the Cards win it all. The fact that we even made it in at all is a miracle.

  22. - lake county democrat - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 1:36 pm:

Then Grandal has to be in Game 1!

  23. - theCardinal - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 2:32 pm:

Sox will be tough they cn flt out Rake if they get past 1st round They pound the ball NL is anyones guess oh and Go Cardinals !

  24. - RNUG - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 2:40 pm:

I’ll obviously be rooting for the Cubs.

But I do have a question about this season: is it going to have an * in the record books just like the games played during WW II?

  25. - Chatham Resident - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 2:49 pm:

FWIW the Cards’ current winning percentage is 0.51724 (30-28).

Slightly better percentage-wise than in 2006, when they crash-landed their way into the NL Central title and eventually their 10th World Series title, despite only a 83-78 reocrd (0.5155 percentage).

  26. - Pundent - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 3:39 pm:

Sox are up 3-0 and Giolito working on a no-hitter through 5.

  27. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 3:40 pm:

    === working on===

    “Shhhhh”

    :)

  28. - Amalia - Tuesday, Sep 29, 20 @ 5:30 pm:

JMJ (jesus mary joseph) Giolito was amazing (banned punctuation). The Sox won a playoff game. Am I dreaming?
