Covid 19 is real. Masks and social distancing is highle effective in spreading the disease. It is so sad that we have so many who want to dicredit these simpe and proven measures to save lives.

I mentioned it last night on the open thread yesterday, but BGA came out with their own remap scenario based on “independent maps.” Obviously those maps won’t see the light of day but interesting scenarios and possible matchups nonetheless (e.g., LaHood and Davis primaried together with winner likely to face Dirksen-Londrigan; Chatham and Rochester remapped as the farthest west parts of Chris Miller’s new district and out of the Springfield-based districts).

Link to their interactive maps (Congressional, GA): https://www.bettergov.org/news/a-closer-look-at-the-bga-maps/

Went and voted early yesterday. Steady trickle in Sangamon County with about half the available machines in use when we were there.

What time is Pritzker’s press conference today?

Does anyone else think it is unusual that Effingham County has more than 1,000 cases and only 3 deaths reported.

RNUG, that was my observation as well when I voted last Saturday.

The German is coming along nicely. I have been having a hoot watching the Heute Show as well as Musstewissen Geschichte (10 minute treatments of various things to do with German and European history).

I´m also almost done with my German to Spanish class and can read Spanish news and watch programming in it, too. That I can watch on my TV from over the air here.

With the money I have saved from working from home, not going out and not buying things I don´t need, I am looking forward to a long trip to Germany when this is all over.

  9. - obiter dictum - Tuesday, Oct 20, 20 @ 11:19 am:

Mike “Doc” Emrick retired yesterday. The Blackhawks have his three Stanley Cup clinching calls posted. Great memories, but they feel like a very long time ago.

  10. - Ginhouse Tommy - Tuesday, Oct 20, 20 @ 11:36 am:

Happened to goofing around on the internet the other day and tripped over SIUC web site and their enrollment has dropped to under 10k students. Bad stuff for that school.

after the Kendall Coyne (S.Suburban area’s own) incident,I’m surprised Emrick was not gone sooner.
