* From a reader…

These are the mailers that I’ve received since July 7th– almost non stop back and forth on Diane Pappas and Seth Lewis.

Pic…

Remember, this is just one race.

That’s nothing the Ness mailers (almost none from Skillicorn)would double that.

  2. - A Jack - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:03 pm:

Useful when your puppy hasn’t been house broken.

  3. - Benjamin - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:04 pm:

Someone needs to write a rom-com about two dueling candidates like this who end up falling in love by election day.

  4. - Roadiepig - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:05 pm:

At least 2 times that on Rodney Davis and Betsy Londrigan fliers here at our household. Yesterday was the first day in about a month that we didn’t receive at least one from each :-(

“Yeah, I know the USPS got all these to me, but there’s no way they will deliver my ballot…”

  7. - Roadiepig - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:06 pm:

Kudos to Shark Sandwich. What a crock “they” were trying to sell us on not being able to handle mail-in ballots, when they can stuff our box every day with their campaign advertising…

    You should send me his.

  15. - Suburban Operative - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:23 pm:

I spot some other candidates’ mail in that pic… not all Lewis/Pappas

  16. - Fav Human - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:31 pm:

Lauren U vs Jim O would be about like that.

As would all the “no fair tax” mailers I’ve received.

  17. - Earnest - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:43 pm:

For a minute I thought it was the same as my stack, but the faces are different.

  18. - Huh? - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:43 pm:

The campaign ads I get go straight to the recycling bin. Do not read, go straight to trash.

  19. - jwscott72 - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:43 pm:

One flyer, a door hanger, a couple days ago from the Chatham FPD asking for a yes vote to increase their tax levy. I voted yes for it when I voted early a few weeks ago. Other than Ives begging me for money (wrong district, wrong party, but it’s Ives, so what did you expect?), that’s all I’ve gotten.

  20. - Huh? - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:44 pm:

    Playing 52 card pick up.

  21. - @misterjayem - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:45 pm:

“These things can’t be that effective, can they?”

Targeted mailers that convey “my opponent is terrible on [Issue X that is personally important to you]” do a pretty good job of getting people to vote on down-ballot races that they might otherwise skip over.

They serve a slightly different purpose than top of the ballot advertising.

“What a crock “they” were trying to sell us on not being able to handle mail-in ballots, when they can stuff our box every day with their campaign advertising”

A stamped envelope dropped into your mailbox follows a different path than uniform, bulk pre-sorted shipped from a mailing house.

Apples and oranges both get to the grocery store, but they’re still apples and oranges.

  22. - cermak_rd - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:48 pm:

I got a flyer from Chuy Garcia. I was like, why, he would only lose if 90% of the electorate in his district decided not to vote… But he is also reminding us to vote for Durbin, Villanueva (IL state senate) and Sepulveda (MWRD). Also to vote for the Fair Tax.

  23. - Mama - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:48 pm:

They are keeping the U S Post Offices in business.

  24. - Amalia - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:49 pm:

How many pieces is that? hard to count from the photo. looks like about 30. lots….

  25. - Jocko - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 1:50 pm:

I have a feeling the ’sharks’ aren’t planning on investing in “Political Twister”…no matter how much fun it is to step on the candidate /S

  26. - House - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:04 pm:

“One day’s mail in North Carolina, 2020″

  27. - thisjustinagain - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:16 pm:

Next mailer: “My opponent has caused more trees to be cut down to spread lies than I have. Vote for me, and save a tree.” (redacted punctuation mark).

  28. - Bruce( no not him) - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:26 pm:

You’re supposed to read those? Mine get pitched immediately.

  29. - Responsa - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:29 pm:

This cycle for the local races I have received a grand total of 4 mail campaign flyers. 2 against Fair Tax and one for Fair Tax. One for States Attorney Lake County. Nothing for U. S. senate, nothing for 10th congressional district. I’m glad not to be buried in paper as in prior elections but I have to say it’s been kind of weird to be ignored.

  30. - 1st Ward - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:33 pm:

Don’t vote for us if you are an environmentalist.

  31. - Joe - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:40 pm:

Gonna be a lot of 20-something graphic artists looking for work next week…..

  32. - Siualum - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:45 pm:

    Who saves this stuff??

  33. - Father Ted - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 2:57 pm:

No joke, I get at least that many in about two weeks from the Mazzochi-Zordani race; sometimes even multiple mailers for the same candidate in the same day.

  34. - Northsider - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 3:30 pm:

== Someone needs to write a rom-com about two dueling candidates like this who end up falling in love by election day. ==

A 6th season episode of “Night Court” did just this featuring Dan and his opponent for a NY Assembly seat. The episode was titled “Strange Bedfellows.” Natch.

  35. - train111 - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 3:38 pm:

Just south of the Pappas/Lewis district but the volume of Grant and Mejia-Beal mail has been comparable.

  36. - 47th Ward - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 3:41 pm:

I get about a dozen e-mails every day from Jaime Harrison. I’ve seen reports that he’s raised $100 million so far. I’ve been tempted to donate $5 just to make the e-mails stop, but I think that would only generate more. I just want it to stop. All of it. Please, God, make it stop.

Next week can’t get here fast enough.

  37. - JoanP - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 3:52 pm:

=Someone needs to write a rom-com about two dueling candidates like this who end up falling in love by election day.=

Sounds like a Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movie.

  38. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 3:58 pm:

    === Sounds like a Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movie.===

“State of the Union”, 1948, Frank Capra, producer/director, 124 minutes

Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn, Angela Landsbury, Van Johnson

If you like Capra, this is up your alley.

  39. - In 630 - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 4:03 pm:

Howard vs Breen has been heavy on mailing too.

Is there not data available to campaigns about who’s already voted/had their mail ballots accepted?

  40. - ArchPundit - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 4:15 pm:

“Don’t feel bad BillyF, someone looks at your work.”

  41. - Frank talks - Friday, Oct 30, 20 @ 4:17 pm:

Two people no one ever heard of send tons of mail to get people to remember their name and in two weeks no one will know who they are again.
