The HDem caucus appears to be majority female come January
Wednesday, Nov 4, 2020 - Posted by Rich Miller * Interesting…
This comes despite the apparent House Democratic losses of Reps. Diane Pappas and Mary Edly-Allen to men. Rep. Monica Bristow was defeated by another woman and Rep. Nathan Reitz was defeated by a man. Democratic women appear to have defeated two Republican men, Reps. Grant Wehrli and Allen Skillicorn.

Nevada’s current legislature was the first female majority legislature in the history of the country

Hope they have some realistic ideas to deal with the state budget.
It is now up to the Governor and Democratically controlled GA to face the reality that the state is in a real financial mess. That means no new programs and hard budgeting decisions.

Downstate, Raunerite, Eastern Bloc districts seems the most logical, since it’s up to the Democrats.
If elections have consequences, use that super majority (and still a supermajority, both chambers) to take those cuts to the 51st state.
Deep cuts. Closing facilities, state jobs, contracts…
Wanna make one sided, a super-minority can be really hurt by that logic.

Interesting read in the suburbs with women. DuPage County Board also replaced two R males with two D women, and the County elected three women to the 18th judicial circuit bench (2 R’s and 1 D). Although still some VBM in DuPage, looks like 10 women on the DuPage County Board - all D’s.

So … what, if anything, does this mean for Madigan as House Speaker?
Will the H-Dem majority decide to elect one of their own?
Will what remains of the GOP help them in order to oust Madigan?

Deep cuts to downstate areas while leaving other areas of the budget relatively untouched.
Certainly many downstate Republicans would hope the DEMS would do that. Great campaign material for future elections.

Why… lol.. Dems are in a super majority.

Why would Pritzker pull a tramp maneuver? Pritzker was elected to be governor of the entire State of Illinois, including the eastern blockheads. A task that he seems to have taken seriously.
If cuts are to be made, they must be distributed equally across the State. Pritzker cannot favor his political allies to the detriment of his political foes.

You don’t make the tax increase bipartisan… welp… win elections.

And, 39 of 46 (85%) House GOP seats will be men.
In the Senate, 16 of 18 (89%) GOP seats will be men.
51% of the state’s population is female.

Celebrating that fact. Let the work come in several days. But that is a victory for women and for the party.

I think 4 LGBT State Reps too, for an interesting overlay.

Had Pappas and Edly-Allen voted present for Speaker and we kept off other controversial bills, it might have been a wash. Reitz and Bristow were likely done anyway. And Starva-Murray looks like a genius.

Amy Elik of Fosterburg (northeast of Alton).
I know you’re probably tired of my remap prognostications, but I will not be surprised if the remap pushes Elik’s new seat toward Jacksonville (Davidsmeyer), and south of Springfield (Murphy/Bourne). I will also not be surprised if Elik’s new district might include at least a small part of Sangamon County.
