Was in traffic the other day by a car that had personalized Illinois House Retired plates that said “NANA”. I was expecting to see some retired female House member of grandmother age behind the wheel but instead it was some guy I did not recognize who looked to be between his late 20s and early 40s.
Never knew before this that Illinois House Retired plates were a thing let alone personalized ones.
Unfortunately the general feedback I am hearing locally about the mass clinic @ WSRC and free targets isn’t great.
I hope that many do elect to take advantage of the offer, but not sure the turn out will be what’s expected/hoped for.
what is happening in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office? Sun Times piece up saying ASA who made the statement re Toledo shooting was in artful, he’s returned to his job, there’s training coming, but Foxx did not get info….AND, her First Assistant, just appointed after the reelection, has resigned. wow.

To Amalia at 9:55am and the CCSAO: It’s the usual failures by Foxx coming home to roost yet again. The office has been in turmoil since she started, and the latest fiascos demand victims other than herself. Wish the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission actually investigated her Ju$$ie $mollet misconduct also. Meanwhile Dan Webb couldn’t find a crime….if I did what she did, I’d been charged with Official Misconduct so fast it would break records.

Until the people behind the cover-up of the killing of David Koschman are brought to justice, I really don’t care to hear about the “corruption” of the current Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Its small potatoes in comparison, as Hyman Roth once said.
Perhaps we should celebrate this phrase by giving our friends and co-workers 5ths of vodka, gin, whiskey, et all. The really fun people in the office will be handing out Texas 5ths.
care about multiple things at the same time, Tucson Jack. Dick Devine is long gone. “the killing of David Koschman” was, finally, appropriately charged as involuntary manslaughter. punch someone who then hits a curb, killed, not murder.
Any good (Socially distant) Cinco de mayo parties?

Of course Amalia, you don’t address the cover up. Koschman’s killing was “unsolved” for 7 years, Mayor Richie’s testimony about what he knew never made public, 2004 police report never made public, 60 days in McHenry jail for manslaughter for Daley’s nephew. None of the CPD criminally charged. Some of the cops retired to avoid discipline, and a few are still fighting their suspensions. The CPD complaints about Smolett are ironic to say the least. Its interesting, don’t you think, that out of all the attorneys in Chicago, Webb is again appointed special prosecutor in the Smollet case. Vanecko got 60 days after fleeing from justice for 7 years. If Smollet gets anything more than probation and community service, it will be a travesty.
Tucson Jack, my comment was about the CCSAO and Foxx, not the CPD, not a judge appointing a special prosecutor. but since you opened the door while trying to distract from the subject of the day of the CCSAO (top story on the 11 am WGN News), where is the full report from Webb?

That might lead to someone taking the 5th.

Amalia, I just read the WGN report. It must be a slow news day. It sounds like the correct disciplinary action took place by having the First Assistant resign. I’m not trying to distract, I’m trying to provide some perspective. I’ll acknowledge that I don’t know all the facts, but in my opinion, whether he had a gun in his hand or dropped it a second before (hidden from the cop) he was shot, will not make a difference whether the shooting was justified.
it’s not a slow news day. the story is at the top because the County prosecutor continues to mess up. Actually, there was no need for all the nonsense, the comments made in court do not say gun in hand. But it’s easier for Foxx to shift blame. She has lost a huge number of top staffers. the revolving door is on her. ARDC will never suspend her but they may reprimand.
