* Whew…

*** UPDATE *** Mayor Lightfoot…

Our residents expect the City Council to pass critical legislation that impacts their daily lives. However, today, a small group of Aldermen brazenly created a spectacle and did a disservice to their constituents, instead of raising their concerns through the appropriate forum. As a result of their cynical actions, the City Council failed to pass protections and relief for our hotel workers, primarily Black and brown women, who were most impacted by the pandemic, and our small businesses. On Friday, we look forward to continuing our work on behalf of Chicagoans.

How to win friends and influence people, Lori style. Maybe if she just repeated herself ten times…

  2. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jun 23, 21 @ 12:06 pm:

Lori Lightfoot refuses to find allies and partners.

Now it’s moved into the actual conducting of city council business, “part 394”.

JT: That cole slaw you brought was light on the dressing. How cheap can you be?

LL: Cheap? Wanna talk about those mini weenies you brought. You could have gotten jumbos from Portillo’s, but no……

  9. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jun 23, 21 @ 12:29 pm:

Taylor: (annoyed) You’re a hoot, Mayor, you’re really funny. You’re really funny.

Lightfoot: What do you mean I’m funny?

Taylor: It’s funny, you know…. how you get all angry, it’s funny, you’re a funny Mayor.

    (sighs)

Lightfoot: What do you mean, you mean the way I run council meetings? What?

Taylor: It’s just, you know. You’re just funny, it’s… funny, the way you try and run everything.

Lightfoot: (chamber becomes more quiet) Funny how? What’s funny about it? What did ya say? Funny how?

Taylor: Jus… (angry, can’t speak type of anger)

    Lightfoot: What?

    Taylor: Just… ya know… you’re funny

Lightfoot: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little confused, maybe, but …I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, like when I dress up in costumes and have press conferences, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here now running these council meetings amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?

    Taylor: Just… you know, how there’s always a story, you’re always a victim… I dunno… you know…

Lightfoot: No, no, I don’t know, you said it. How do I know? You said I’m funny. How am I funny, what is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what’s funny?

Taylor: Get out of here, go back to the podium.

Lightfoot: (Yelling) I almost had you beat, I almost had you. I wonder about you sometimes, you’ll fold, you can’t out angry me.

T - Was it any good?
L - The best. Listen, after the council meeting, we’ll split a pizza with all the toppings. You’ll see why I used a fork.

Jerry Springer’s Council Close: “You know, some people are just unhappy with life. And that includes themselves. You can’t change them, and it’s foolish to try. But when they are the mayor of a major American city, it’s on them to admit they don’t have a clue what they’re doing; the rest of us already know it. Until next session, take care of yourselves, and each other, because your Mayor won’t.”

Ald. Taylor keeping it classy with that finger in the face of the Mayor. /s. Never ceasing to be unimpressed at the professionalism and caliber of our elected officials today. We really need to do a better job as an electorate.

===…instead of raising their concerns through the appropriate forum

Would not the appropriate forum be the City Council for them to raise concerns about City Council legislation?

    Lightfoot is just baffling.

  36. - NIU Grad - Wednesday, Jun 23, 21 @ 3:16 pm:

“instead of raising their concerns through the appropriate forum”

That forum being a phone call with the Mayor…not an email, which would be brazenly unprofessional, of course.

  37. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jun 23, 21 @ 3:20 pm:

===instead of raising their concerns through the appropriate forum.===

What a city council meeting, a stage play?

    Don’t answer that.

Lightfoot has no clue… not one… to what it means to govern and govern within the levers… and forums.

    Pitiful.

= ‘The first vehicle that came through, we found meth, marijuana, and an open alcohol container,’ Doyle said.

It’s the Sears Tower, Comiskey Park and Lake Shore Drive. It’s the bean, not Cloud Gate. And it always will be to a majority of Chicagoans.

But go ahead and waste more time on this nonsense.

  43. - Ducky LaMoore - Wednesday, Jun 23, 21 @ 4:53 pm:

To the update regarding Mayor Lightfoot…. The fact that there is injustice in the world, the country, the state, the city… doesn’t mean it is excusable to act like a complete @$$. You might want to work on the, mmm kay.

    Clash of the Titans.

  45. - Svengali - Thursday, Jun 24, 21 @ 9:20 am:

It’s not the choice of forum that upset Lightfoot. It’s the fact that anyone had the temerity to question her. It’s a democracy. If she can’t handle that, then she needs more than a refresher on Robert’s Rules.
