TMZ has an interview with Danny Davis saying he thinks R. Kelly should get a second chance and will be welcomed back in Chicago after he gets out of prison.

    https://www.tmz.com/2021/09/28/r-kelly-second-chance-redemption-congressman-danny-davis-chicago/

Isn’t R. Kelly facing like a 100 year sentence for sex trafficking minors?

    Please retire, Rep. Davis.

Teachers at my school were protesting the testing mandate during contractual hours today.
    Apparently admin gave them permission.

  3. - Cheryl44 - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 9:52 am:

Representative Davis should realize statements like that make some people wonder what he’s been up to.

    ===at my school===

Which school? You can email me if you’d prefer.

Oregon became first state to approve their congressional remap.

IL General Assembly Fall Veto session begins October 19.

Will we see 1st draft of IL congressional remap on night of Oct 15 (Friday night)?

Already scheduled my Pfizer booster shot for next week. Despite being well under 65 (but I’ve got ongoing medications for issues that may make me one of the “compromised” people that may also need the booster).

  7. - Carbondale Chronicle - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 10:13 am:

Here’s a possible question for your question of the day segment. Illinois allows anyone 18 and older to purchase lottery tickets and place bets on horse racing. However, the minimum age for playing any casino games or slot/video poker machines is 21. The question is should Illinois have a uniform age for the ability to gamble? I get hung up on the fact that it could be argued that casinos serve alcohol and you need to be 21. Yet, if you go to any OTB parlor or Hawthorne, those facilities also serve alcohol. I have a hard time understanding why 18 year-olds are mature enough to purchase a scratch off but not mature enough to place a bet at a roulette table.

Rich Miller have you taken the Ancestry DNA test? If so what were the results? I would be Irish would be in there.

I stopped by Wally’s on my way down from the burbs to Champaign (yes, I went out of my way) to experience Midwest Buc-ee’s. I was not disappointed and am hoping for more to be opened, preferably somewhere along I-57.

  10. - DuPage Saint - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 10:49 am:

Are there really that many care givers , nurses, first responders refusing to get vaccinated and creating a worker shortage or is that just right wing anti vaxer propaganda?

  11. - Al - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 12:20 pm:

Dear Carbondale, This difference has to do with the timing of when these Statutes were originally enacted. By the time the casino legislation passed in 1990s after the drinking had been raised to 21. Maybe someone could propose cleanup legislation to make this uniform.

  12. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 12:21 pm:

===This difference has to do with the timing===

I think it’s also a lot about the ag industry’s influence.

  13. - Skeptic - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 1:47 pm:

Just looked, and the Cards’ Magic Number is 1. How about a Cards/Sox Series?

  14. - DuPage Saint - Tuesday, Sep 28, 21 @ 3:05 pm:

@Skeptic. Cards Sox series would be spectacular. And for fun they should play it at a neutral field. My choice would be Wrigley Field for the Cub fans to enjoy

The obvious fair thing to do would be to meet halfway and play at the Corn Crib just off of 55 in Bloomington/Normal. World Series corn hat souvenirs for all

NBC bringing back Law and Order, the original. will be very interesting to see how this show is cast.
