I wonder when we’ll start getting reactions from the crazies over the changes made to the Health Care Right of Conscience Act. It’s been strangely quite on social media.

  2. - Downstate - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 8:57 am:

Mayor Lightfoot being booed off stage by the plumber’s union is fascinating. Tough to pick a side, if at all.

  3. - Banish Misfortune - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:11 am:

Got my booster and got totally slammed. For some reason I did not expect that. All good now though.

  4. - Just Me 2 - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:19 am:

I hat a great day it was to be a citizen in Chicago yesterday. The City Council raised our taxes, and the legislature stole our votes for future elections. Why do I live here again? It certainly isn’t because downstate pays for my lifestyle.

    Great skit.

Banish which booster did you get? I’ve been holding off getting a booster for my J&J because the first round knocked me off my feet for 24 hours.

  7. - Cheryl44 - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:23 am:

You can’t be a citizen of Chicago. Countries have citizens. Cities (states, towns, etc) have residents.

  8. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:31 am:

-You can’t be a citizen of Chicago.-

Not even after Governor Bailey appoints an ambassador? /s

  9. - Skeptic - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:42 am:

@Just Me 2 , well then moved downstate. Just don’t complain to us when you can’t find a good place to eat, and there’s nothing to do and there’s no taxis, busses or trains and it’s hours to the nearest airport and the Internet service is crappy and . . .

  10. - Amalia - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:42 am:

Brave Kyle Beach. Toews please revise your remarks.

  11. - Lefty Lefty - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:54 am:

Curious how the legislature stole votes in future elections? Is this a reference to the mapping process? The one where, in the past, I was drawn into a Republican district and had Denny Hastert as my rep?

You know what I did? I kept voting. And no one stole my vote. My preferred candidates just lost a lot. That’s how it works.

  12. - Downstate - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 9:55 am:

    “well then moved downstate”

I’ve lived in metro areas and rural areas. Both are great. I had a traffic tie-up yesterday morning. Four deer were standing in the road-way of my morning commute.

Technology has clearly enhanced downstate living. I can easily interact with colleagues around the nation Items that I can’t find locally are typically available, via online options, at my doorstep in 2 days. And with a myriad of inexpensive dining options, it’s not all bad.

  13. - Skeptic - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 10:00 am:

“it’s not all bad.” I wasn’t slamming downstate living (I love it here), I was more poking fun at OP.

  14. - Banish Misfortune - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 10:05 am:

Give me a break-I got the moderna. I figured that as it was a half dose of the initial dose, there would be less of a reaction. I figured wrong.

  15. - Downstate - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 10:12 am:

” I wasn’t slamming downstate living (I love it here)”

LOL. I was using it more as an opportunity to plug some of the great benefits of the life I love.

  16. - Give Me A Break - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 10:42 am:

    Thanks Banish

  17. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 10:57 am:

@MZ - Glad your crazies are being quiet.

The ones in my FB feed have been posting a storm of outrage about the HCRCA the last 48 hours. They do take occasional breaks to post stuff about the Clintons being behind the Alec Baldwin movie set shooting so that’s nice.

The Hideout Vandalized Twice With White Supremacist Symbols, Anti-Vaccination Rhetoric

Beloved indie music venue and dive bar The Hideout has been vandalized twice over the past month, according to the owners and police.

Someone cut the bar’s electrical cables and stole the ComEd electric meter Oct. 4, the bar owners said in an Instagram post. An “unsigned note with anti-vaccination rhetoric” was taped to the empty meter box, owners said.

Then Oct. 17, someone spray painted white supremacist symbols and graffiti across the bar’s front windows and doors, as well as on a neighboring building, the owners said.

I sure wish the Death Cult would crawl back under a rock.

==I sure wish the Death Cult would crawl back under a rock.==

    I’ll second that, MrJM. Scary.

  20. - cermak_rd - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 11:45 am:

Got my booster and my flu shot. Both fine. Sore arm in the flu shot arm for a couple hours. I remember after shot #2 I was fatigued, none of that with booster. Pfizer for me. I wasn’t brave enough for the choose your own adventure mixed booster choice.

  21. - Just Me 2 - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 11:46 am:

Skeptic - if I was going to move it wouldn’t be downstate. I’d abandon this State in a heartbeat if I wasn’t so close to my family that has too many roots here.

It never ceases to amaze me how our state and city politicians don’t care about their voters. They care about themselves and their friends. Voters are irrelevant.

  22. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 12:23 pm:

===…how our state and city politicians don’t care about their voters. They care about themselves and their friends.===

Please tell me the name of the magical state where no one makes the same complaints as you about Illinois government and politicians. Where is this place you dream of?

  23. - Tynie - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 12:30 pm:

47th Ward- I’d like that list, too.

  24. - thisjustinagain - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 1:53 pm:

To the “magical state” post by 47th Ward above at 12:23pm. Please…Illinois has so many convicted corrupt politicians, judges, mayors, aldermen, legislators, governors, police officers, etc. compared to the other states. The list continues to grow as Federal investigations find them. Find another state with a worse track record of convictions (not indictments). Hint: Don’t bother with Indiana; they’ve had fewer of every category than us.

  25. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 1:59 pm:

Please…check out New Jersey and Louisiana for starters.

Also, I take it from your comment that you also can’t name a state where “state and city politicians” actually care about their voters and not just their friends. I guess I’ll have to keep waiting.

  26. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Thursday, Oct 28, 21 @ 4:48 pm:

    N-o-o-o-o-o-o!
    The Hideout?
All those soccer players across the street and no cameras?

  27. - 17% Solution - Friday, Oct 29, 21 @ 6:43 am:

== Mayor Lightfoot being booed off stage by the plumber’s union is fascinating.==

No that didn’t happen. From Chicago Suntimes; “But McCarthy also insisted the mayor was ‘able to finish her remarks, got a cheer at the end,’ then returned to her seat and watched the rest of the game. ‘I was there when she was speaking. There were a couple of people in the corner that booed. But it was nothing significant. And it didn’t disrupt the event at all,’ McCarthy said. ‘I would have to suspect whoever was booing at that event was not a member of this local. … We respect her and we have no problems with the mayor.’ “

== Find another state with a worse track record of convictions (not indictments).==
That means that Illinois police are very good at catching politicians who are criminals. That doesn’t mean that politicians are better public servants in other locations.
