    yep, billionaire dumps debt.
That’s how the rich get richer.

  7. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 8:02 am:

Dude could write a $40,000 check like I can write $40 one.

Having zero moral qualms about how many businesses/individuals go without pay for services rendered must be incredibly liberating.

    ==Send the tab to Grif.==

Maybe all those little old ladies (who begged him to save our state) could hold a bake sale.

Perfect for a DeSantis cabinet pick.

  10. - Ok - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 8:42 am:

39,000 missing ‘g’s. Sounds about right.

  11. - ChicagoVinny - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 8:42 am:

Afterward he hung the biker jacket up and dropped a G from the end of a word one last time.

  12. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 8:43 am:

@Jocko- lol, you slay me dude(banned punctuation)

For the Rauner true believers, is this how you thought it would end? Is this the out migration everyone is talking about? Spoiled and entitled ultra rich run away when the going gets tough.

  13. - Candy Dogood - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 8:47 am:

I can’t wait till 20 years from now when we find out the 4 years of the Rauner administration was just a really involved effort by Bruce Rauner to try to win a $1 bet.

Does anyone know if he still has the 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan registered in his name, and if so — in which state?

    Excellent

Very Trump is move for GovJunk. Does this meanie hevaint for arichie rich and Griffie?

  17. - Jack Kemp - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:22 am:

So that would be like… what? 0.1% of the campaign spending?

This guy lives rent free inside all of your heads and it is hilarious.

  18. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:24 am:

=So that would be like… what? 0.1% of the campaign spending?=

I love it when “fiscal conservative/personal responsibility” types are ok with a guy worth hundreds of millions stiffing the little guy.

    Who is living where? Hypocrite.

  19. - Excitable Boy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:25 am:

    - This guy lives rent free inside all of your heads -

No, he lives in Florida because he got humiliated. And he stiffed some folks on the way out.

  20. - Arsenal - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:25 am:

==This guy lives rent free inside all of your heads and it is hilarious. ==

It is rent free, or is he just not paying, like how he refused to pay the state’s bills for 2 years?

  21. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:27 am:

===This guy lives rent free inside all of your heads===

Nah, it’s a comical reminder of the foolish some people fell for, and still do with Rauner, and now I enjoy mocking those so duped.

It’s a gift that keeps on giving. We all need a good laugh

  22. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:30 am:

A fitting end to the 16-year Blago-Quinn-Rauner nightmare (or 20 if you want to add Ryan to this).

  23. - Phineas Gurley - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:37 am:

I was kinda hopin’ we could ask him about Carhartt’s vaccination policy. I suppose there’s a lot less need for a Carhartt jacket in Florida.

  24. - Bigtwich - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:37 am:

“The search for corruption ends with a bang”

Not with a bang but a whimper.

  25. - Demoralized - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:37 am:

    ==and it is hilarious==

Still Rauner apologists out there I see.

  26. - Demoralized - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:39 am:

==committee wound things down with a bunch of debt==

At least the guy is consistent. He always was a fan of making a shamble of finances.

  27. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:40 am:

=== Still Rauner apologists out there I see.===

Yes, but now they prefer to be known as Irvin supporters.

  28. - Grandson of Man - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:41 am:

Rauner is in the right place now. The GOP is cooking up bills to ban making whites uncomfortable about racism and mandatory playing of the national anthem at events. Trumpism and right wing economic ideology from the likes of Rauner and Griffin go hand in hand.

  29. - Lucky Pierre - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:41 am:

You guys really need a new boogeyman to pin all the state’s many problems on.

Collective amnesia about the 7 billion dollar deficit in the unbalanced budget Madigan passed he refused to sign

  30. - BTO2 - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:42 am:

Did his staff ever uncover the state offices without computers…that might have been his best. Kinda boring now without his governin and the SOI now paying it’s bills.

  31. - Lakefront - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:44 am:

“and now I enjoy mocking those so duped.”

I don’t believe many people were “duped” by candidate Rauner. Republicans in the primary just wanted a guy who they thought could win and give them some voice at the state level. General election? The 2014 choices were awful. Holding your nose to vote for a guy who later sucked isn’t getting duped. It was just the most likely outcome all along.

  32. - Blue Dog - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:48 am:

the Raunman was a failure on my fronts. IMO he did little to control the trend In violent crime. his successor has continued in being ineffective in this arena.

  33. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:49 am:

    =39,000 missing ‘g’s. Sounds about right.=

    I love it.
This is a job for the G men.

  34. - Blue Bayou - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:52 am:

Exactly what “running the state like a business” looks like.

  35. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 9:55 am:

    Jack Kemp-

You’re defending a guy that wouldn’t *** on you if you were on fire.

    You’re the chump.

  36. - Streator Curmudgeon - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:11 am:

Bruce’s campaign committee could easily wipe out that debt by selling all his old costumes to the new Ringling Brothers circus.

  37. - Michelle Flaherty - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:16 am:

    When’s the portrait unveilin’?
There are only two former govs who don’t have portraits at the Capitol.

    Bruce Rauner and Rod Blagojevich.

I wouldn’t want to keep that company.

  38. - MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:20 am:

“So that would be like… what? 0.1% of the campaign spending?”

So that would be like… what? 100% his campaign’s unpaid obligation to the individuals and employers to whom Rauner owes the $39,625?

That amount might be nothing to Bruce Rauner real money to those on the other side of the balance sheet.

If one takes a moment to stop thinking like a temporarily embarrassed millionaire and consider the people who work for a living, the significance of that sum is readily apparent.

  39. - Levois J - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:26 am:

Well I guess he’s not coming back to shake it up again! :P

  40. - Excitable Boy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:51 am:

    - You guys really need a new boogeyman -

    - Madigan -

    Awesome self awareness LP.

  41. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 10:53 am:

    ===You guys really need a new boogeyman===

In the coming days, I’ll keep track how many times you type “Madigan”… it’ll be fun.

=== Collective amnesia about the 7 billion dollar deficit in the unbalanced budget Madigan passed he refused to sign===

Please don’t make me grab - Charlie Wheeler - “Points of Information” to make you look ridiculous… and a state without any budget not only hurts social service but rings up big debt… that as a state we’re trying to undo Rauner damage.

Starting off today with the same tone-deaf projecting… that’s fun too.

  42. - Lucky Pierre - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 11:17 am:

What will really be fun is trying to ignore the Madigan organization corruption trials that will be in the headlines between now and Election Day along with the other Democrats under indictment.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring? A lot of shoes to potentially drop

  43. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 11:27 am:

    ===Madigan organization corruption trials===

As the pandemic continues and abortion could be unraveling, there will be lots of noise to other things, unless Madigan is indicted, then the use of Madigan might hurt more than help.

    It’s like you are saying here… lol…

===A lot of shoes to potentially drop===

The boogeyman that may or may not exist.

You are a self created caricature and you don’t even realize it. I hope when you reboot you still lack self-awareness, it’s your biggest, not your best trait.

  44. - BluegrassBoy - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 3:57 pm:

Dropping Gs and stiffin the hard workin people as your last impression. Cant imagine what a mess Illinois would in if he had a second term.

  45. - Henry Francis - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 4:23 pm:

Is it true that Rauner recently appointed a confused old man as his committee’s Chair?

$40k is chump change compared to the $55MM judgment he (GTCR) skipped out on when his nursing home was responsible for the death of a resident.

  46. - Whatever - Wednesday, Jan 19, 22 @ 4:46 pm:

==Collective amnesia about the 7 billion dollar deficit in the unbalanced budget Madigan passed he refused to sign.==

Too bad this state doesn’t have a line-item veto, so that a Governor who has a fiscal plan and is willing to take the arrows for cutting the budget could do it with the stroke of a pen.
