  1. - NIU Grad - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:27 pm:

    “come get your ppl”

Maybe not the best messaging when specifically calling out an LGBT advocacy event…but GOP going to GOP.

  2. - FIREDup! - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:28 pm:

Hey GOP! Negative test, proof of vaccination? No mask! It really is that easy.

  3. - Socially DIstant Watcher - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:29 pm:

Republicans should have been at the Equality gala, too. Masks or not (and people were generally masked except when they took pictures)

  4. - ;) - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:29 pm:

Rules for thee but not for we?

  5. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:31 pm:

    Thank you Tom Devore.

  6. - jimme - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:31 pm:

    hypocrat?

  7. - lake county democrat - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:32 pm:

How To Create Cynics In One Easy Lesson

  8. - Bruce Rauner - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:32 pm:

First off all you had to show proof of vaccination and have a negative test to get admitted into the gala. Most everyone had a mask unless you were eating, drinking and taking a photo. Lastly, it was a few republicans at the event as well.

  9. - Captain Obvious - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:33 pm:

Covidiocy is a bipartisan thang now…

  10. - thunderspirit - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:33 pm:

I’m surprised you don’t imagine that it was intentional, NIU Grad.

  11. - Nobody dat Nobody Sent - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:36 pm:

There was a vaccine and negative covid test mandate for attendance. I’m almost kinda hoping that’s why there weren’t very many Republicans in attendance and not because they don’t support LGBTQ+ issues or people…

  12. - Boone's is Back - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:36 pm:

===Most everyone had a mask unless you were eating, drinking and taking a photo===

lol, so when exactly would that mask be worn?

  13. - Rich Miller - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:36 pm:

===Negative test, proof of vaccination? No mask! It really is that easy. ===

There are no exceptions for testing, vaccinations or anything else in the indoor mask mandate other than when one is in the process of eating or drinking.

Democrats who pose maskless for pics at a packed event with maskless people behind them are just inviting this stuff.

  14. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:36 pm:

Most everyone had a mask. In their pocket.

  15. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:38 pm:

“We’re goin’ maskless to own the libs… wait, what?”

  16. - The Velvet Frog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:40 pm:

They should have realized that unmasked pictures aren’t a good look. But considering the event required proof of vaccination AND a negative test?

  17. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:43 pm:

“Chicago joins Sangamon County and NJ is declaring end to pandemic”

  18. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:43 pm:

“Maybe this was the year we shoulda had that ‘Masked Ball’ idea”

  19. - Hahaha - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:44 pm:

“The kids must mask up because they could bring the virus home. Luckily for us, COVID is NOT a fan of cocktail parties and was not present.”

  20. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:44 pm:

Social media never helps, part 6,529

  21. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:46 pm:

Speaker Welch and Leader Durkin declare masks will no longer be a partisan issue”

  22. - Hahaha - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:46 pm:

No masks in sight at a large indoor gathering? Clearly these people want granny to die and are the literal worst of humanity. Dems the rules. (pun intended)

  23. - JS Mill - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:47 pm:

=Democrats who pose maskless for pics at a packed event with maskless people behind them are just inviting this stuff.=

    Rich, again demonstrating his bipartisanship.

=“We’re goin’ maskless to own the libs… wait, what?”=

I cannot hope to do better than that. OW for the win.

  24. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:48 pm:

Own Goal - An own goal is where a player (or players here) perform(s) actions that result in them or their team scoring a goal on themselves, often resulting in a point for the opposing team.

  25. - Not again - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:50 pm:

At least they waited until the TRO was in place.

  26. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:51 pm:

“But… our Instagram and Twitter is private… how can this happen?”

  27. - Bruce( no not him) - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:53 pm:

But, we aren’t school kids. We can make our own minds up which rules to follow.

  28. - Cubs in '16 - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:53 pm:

    *facepalm*

  29. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:54 pm:

    “Ottawa here we come”

  30. - Ben Bluesman - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:56 pm:

    ::waves hand::

These are not the Democrats you seek.

  31. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 3:57 pm:

Just saying. The Illinois GOP won’t use this come 2022. They still have 400,000 because Madigan bumper stickers they have to use up.

  32. - ChicagoBars - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:02 pm:

    To FIREDup(got an exclamation point thru)’s point…

There’s no Chicago mask exemption for negative test + proof of vaccine, nor is there a “quick selfie with anybody” exception. Some big cities do have that exemption but not Chicago.

There’s a bunch of fundraisers ahead, the case rates are dropping, and this is all going to be “Governor Newsom goes to the French Laundry with lobbyists for dinner” fodder every time it happens. Just announce a Mitigations Phase 4.75 dropping masks in spaces with vaccination mandates and this weekend and then ditch the whole, rarely enforced outside Chicago, thing end of the month. It’s all self-inflicted messaging wounds for elected official mask advocates from here on out until June 28th.

  33. - OneMan - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:02 pm:

We would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for those dang cameras.

Also for what it is worth, the problem isn’t even as much as the people in the foreground in the pictures, it’s the people in the background. They ain’t all eating and drinking or getting their pictures taken.

Seems like an unforced error to me.

  34. - Ben Gazzara - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:03 pm:

Good thing all these pictures were taken for something important like social media.

  35. - Todd - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:06 pm:

==Most everyone had a mask. In their pocket.==

Blue Dog –If that is the standard, I’m fine with going about my daily business with a mask tucked in my pocket. Sending kids to school with a mask in their pocket.

Rich is right that this kinda thing writes itself and invites the dust up as it is a self inflicted wound. People have been fed up with this BS since Pelosi’s hair salon deal.

you wonder why people are just done with all this pandemic theater — stuff like this.

  36. - Geesh - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:14 pm:

Not many people in the backgrounds of those photos wearing masks.

  37. - The Snowman - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:18 pm:

The average voter will see the hypocrisy of the attendees in the photos. The GOP is correct to expose this.

  38. - SAP - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:19 pm:

Yes, I was maskless, but I didn’t exhale.

  39. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:24 pm:

“Giannouilias declares end to masks in SOS locations”

  40. - Rabid - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:26 pm:

    More deep fried Twinkies

  41. - Furtive Look - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:28 pm:

Must be time to end the mask mandate, huh?

  42. - Responsa - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:28 pm:

Hey Get real. Masks seriously cut into smooth schmoozin’ time. Why go to a fundraiser if you can’t have photographic prove that you were at the fundraiser. What’s a little hypocrisy among friends.

  43. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:29 pm:

==“Giannouilias declares end to masks in SOS locations”==

Alexi overheard saying to the ladies he posed with: “Do you know the youngsters have me to thank for their push for free college? Puts me off the hook for bankrupting Bright Start.”

  44. - Ron Burgundy - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:34 pm:

“Until the GOP realizes the people at this gala should be their people too, we don’t have to worry about our majority. But, let’s get reckless and help them out a bit.”

  45. - 47th Ward - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:39 pm:

They were all holding their breath during the photos. Yep, that’s right. All of them. Gasping for air after each click, they were.

  46. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:41 pm:

==A collection of Democrat pols and activists who demand mask mandates were seen partying it up last night in Chicago ==

Meanwhile, Mayor Jim Langfelder and the rest of the Springfield City Council ask, “What’s wrong with partying it up in the Capitol City? Despite the snow. The Alamo is available. Maybe I’ll make an apperance. And I promise you I will ban Sam Cahnman from the premises.”

  47. - Candy Dogood - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:44 pm:

    ===Your own caption(s)? ===
Some of y’all forgot the assignment.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to eliminate maskophobia.”

  48. - West Side the Best Side - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:44 pm:

“So you promise, you’re not showing these pictures to anyone, right? “

  49. - Lt Guv - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:44 pm:

Dumbasses. Both a caption & a comment. I get on my own the hardest and this is just wrong.

  50. - City Zen - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:45 pm:

    “Start super-spreading the news…”

  51. - Eastern Bloc Mitigation - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:57 pm:

It’s a replay of the last Cook County Dems fundraiser. They’ve got no one to blame but themselves for this.

  52. - Steve - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 4:58 pm:

Democrats will always be first class citizens in Illinois.

  53. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:04 pm:

“Trump keynote speaker at Illinois Equality Gala”

  54. - AC - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:06 pm:

  55. - Amalia - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:06 pm:

    Testing testing 1 2 3

  56. - Blue Dog - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:21 pm:

“Dems prepping for upcoming Super Bowl”

  57. - Soccermom - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:26 pm:

Rich is right. They fail to heed Soccermom’s first rule of politics: “Never give anybody a stick to hit you with.”

  58. - Almost the Weekend - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:35 pm:

“What’s going on in Ottawa, Canada right now is a travesty and threat to democracy… Just follow the rules and the pandemic will be over.”

A conversation at the Gala probably.

  59. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 5:49 pm:

“We paid $50,000 apiece for the opportunity to spread disease to all of you tonight.”

It’s like they’ve never heard of Boris Johnson.

  61. - NonAFSCMEStateEmployeeFromChatham - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 6:01 pm:

“Mike Frerichs was unable to be with us tonight–he’s appearing alongside Pat Quinn and Squeezy at the ‘Tax Everyone’s Retirement Now’ rally across the street.”

At least the computer screen has a masked person on it.

  70. - MisterJayEm - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 6:46 pm:

    Wouldn’t have happened under Madigan.

    – MrJM

  71. - Matt - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 7:23 pm:

Gee, it was an Equality Illinois, not a Democratic party, event. I know its crazy to consider but there are Republicans who are LGBTQ. Guess the GOP doesnt want their votes anymore.

  72. - Ben - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 7:27 pm:

Just saw that California is dropping mask mandate for vaccinated people next week. Maybe they were in LA and just partying early.

  74. - low level - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 7:49 pm:

    == It’s like they’ve never heard of Boris Johnson.==

    True

  75. - Tomorrow is yesterday - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 8:01 pm:

So they’ve cancelled session for Covid, mandated kids have to wear in schools, can’t go to a restaurant in the city without vaccine card and must wear mask when not eating, press releases over and over mocking those who fight mask mandates.

Yet here they are? Hypocrisy at its ultimate. Guessing none of them even understand or care about their actions. Probably laughing about being on the GOP Twitter account. Justifying it all.

  76. - AD - Monday, Feb 7, 22 @ 8:04 pm:

Maskless Democrats “Can’t someone think of the children? I mean we all know by following the science as we advise the peasants that we have higher risk of severe illness from Covid as adults, but we don’t need masks, the kids do.”

  81. - The Dude - Tuesday, Feb 8, 22 @ 4:43 am:
