Only one other voter at my precinct here in beautiful DuPage County as of 6:45am. I was happy to see one of the election workers doing some on-the-job training with two young men so they can do her job someday. Makes me a little bit hopeful for democracy.

  2. - Socially DIstant Watcher - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:02 am:

My precinct was littered with Irvin Bourne signs, a few Milhauser, some Devore too. My precinct routinely votes overwhemingly Democratic, so there aren’t many Republican votes being cast here but the signs are out for those voters.

  3. - Northsider - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:02 am:

At 7:30 a.m., I was the third voter in my 49th Ward precinct.

  4. - RNUG - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:03 am:

Extremely light here on the near south side of Springfield where 3 different polling sites are located.

  5. - Duke - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:04 am:

North central Illinois and I was the second at my polling place at 7:10A.

  6. - Jose Abreu's Next Homer - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:04 am:

went to 5803 N Pulaski around 7am. About 3 people there at the time

  7. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:07 am:

Voter #28 at 8:00 in my corner of suburbia. Oddly, very few signs outside the polling station.

  8. - The Captain - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:09 am:

Total chaos at my polling place this morning at Division and Ashland. They won’t check me in, they won’t give me a ballot, just rude and unhelpful. No matter what I say they keep telling me the same thing over and over, “sir, this is a Wendy’s drive thru.”

  9. - Chris Cleveland, No not the former Chicago GOP Chairman - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:11 am:

Sullivan’s crew is all out. I’ve heard he has people outside 5 voting locations. It will be interesting. On the SOS side, I do believe Milhiser and Kim will get through

  10. - Steve Rogers - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:13 am:

Voted at Washington Park Pavilion in Springfield. I was number 12 at about 7:30. Two precincts at this location.

  11. - Annonin' - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:16 am:

Weather great in the greater Mayberry metroplex. Local elections officials preeedictin’ 25%. A radio legend from SPI sez 40-50%.

  12. - Homebody - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:17 am:

I dropped off my mail in ballot in a secure drop box last week. I can’t imagine ever wanting to stand in line to vote again if I don’t have to.

  13. - Michelle Flaherty - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:22 am:

    - 9.4% citywide turnout –

I first read this as 94 percent and thought HOLY XXXX.

Then I put my reading glasses on.
    Sigh.

  14. - Todd & Margo - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:32 am:

Busier than expected in Provisio a township

  15. - DownstateDem - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:32 am:

    2 EIU/Charleston precincts had 1 voter each at 8:30.

Madison County stopped by 3 precincts this morning, high count of the 3 was 22 at 8:15.

Not many contested races exciting Dems downstate.

  16. - HLV - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:38 am:

A voting location in Lincoln Park (Chicago) opened late cuz the “Republican” Judge’s car broke down. Not so surprising.

  17. - fs - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:51 am:

Election? Was that today? Oh well.

(Snark intended from me….but it might be a legit response from a lot of people tonight.)

  18. - Facts Matter - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:00 am:

8:00 at church in Leland Grove - only one other person arrived to vote while I was there. 2 precincts at this location. Only signs outside were for Kent Gray (Butler’s opponent).

  19. - A Guy in Illinois - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:02 am:

Today was first for me: zero candidate signs in front of my polling station, our local elementary school in Evanston. If I wasn’t already familiar with the school, I might have missed the entrance. More election workers than voters were present.

  20. - West Towner - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:04 am:

I was out passing palm cards at a polling place in the 2nd Ward. 13 voters as of 9am but they opened an hour late. Hearing similar things throughout the city.

  21. - Etown - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:06 am:

Relatively quiet in Evanston and surrounding suburbs but part of reason may be because every north suburbam cook early voting location did huge numbers yesterday. Evanston alone had over 800 voteers yesterday at early site which was 500 more votes than next highest day at that location

  22. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:07 am:

South side of Chicago (Kenwood). I was #32 at about 9:30 a.m. There were no lines.

It was my first time voting at this location (a large rental high rise) as I moved since the last election. The polling place was about as far from the entrance to the building as it is possible to get.

One woman’s ballot was rejected by the machine - it said she hadn’t voted - but the election judges* figured it out.

    * one of whom commented that she couldn’t vote herself because she was only 17. I said “thank you so much for being here [banned punctuation]”

Also, we now have “I Voted” stickers back. I am glad; I missed them.

  23. - Fixer - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:13 am:

Northern McLean county this morning around 715 my wife and I were 24 and 25 to vote. Seems about the same as the primary back in 2020 here.

  24. - Huh? - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:14 am:

Captain - thanks for the morning chuckle.

  25. - Former AP - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:17 am:

Poll judge on the NW side: Small precinct, 9 votes cast so far, about 20 early voted already accounted for.

  26. - train111 - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:20 am:

Winfield #41 - far western DuPage - just before 10 - no line - no wait - in and out.

  27. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:30 am:

Brought my ballot to Lincoln Park library dropbox yesterday afternoon. I was the only one there.
Seems to be some confusion over where you can vote on Election Day if your precinct polling place was closed.
Poll ladies were saying that you can vote on Election Day at any early voting location if your precinct place closed, but can’t find that in writing anywhere.

  28. - Furtive Look - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:33 am:

So beautiful I walked a mile to the polling place and voted at 7:15 a.m. in downtown Collinsville. They told me I was voter #7.

  29. - ddp76 - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:35 am:

My location was for two precincts and there were only two of us there at 7:00. Then the electronic voting machine was on the fritz. Cast paper instead.

  30. - Rahm's Parking Meter - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:49 am:

Sullivan himself was on the inbound platform at the Arlington Heights Metra station (where I board). He had an NBC 5 crew and another camera and was milling around the platform but his volunteers were following him, and not really engaging commuters. Wish I could post a photo here.

  31. - Rahm's Parking Meter - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:49 am:

Sullivan was chatting people up for the record, his volunteers were not.

  32. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:52 am:

    Oswego/Kendall…

Disclosed/Undisclosed precinct… this is an overall as well.

Slightly lower than past “election day” turnouts, but there’s less of “runs” and more steady, like folks are on vacation or something.

  33. - Big Dipper - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:55 am:

Tiny, this is from the court order you can download from the Chicago Board of Elections’ website:

The Board shall promptly mail notices to all voter households within the Vacant Precincts
informing those voters that (a) their election precinct has been closed due to lack of any
viable polling place; (b) they may be temporarily reassigned to the early voting site located
within their ward, which sites shall be open for in-person voting from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on
Election Day as Universal Vote Centers; (c) the voters remain eligible to apply for a voteby-
mail ballot; (d) the voters may vote early at any of the Board’s early voting sites
throughout the City of Chicago; and (e) the voters may vote in person on Election Day at
any of the Board’s early voting sites throughout the City, which shall be open on Election
Day as Universal Vote Centers for both the casting of ballots and for same-day voter
    registration.

  34. - Skeptic - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:57 am:

#23 at 11am. Pretty good turnout for my precinct.

  35. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:04 am:

    ===Wish I could post a photo here. ===

    Email it.

  36. - Rahm's Parking Meter - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:28 am:

    Emailed Rich.

  37. - GA Watcher - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:31 am:

Was the fifth voter at my polling place in Lake Zurich in Lake County at 7 a.m. There are tons of signs on all major intersections around the area. I’d guess 90 percent are for Republican candidates. Interestingly, have not seen one Irvin sign, but there are quite a lot for Bailey and Sullivan and a smattering for Rabine.

  38. - White dynamite - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:32 am:

At about 1030 there was a steady stream of people on the northwest side of Springfield - St. John’s Lutheran Church which has three or four precincts. Couldn’t ask for better weather and even better that I retired on April 1

  39. - White dynamite - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:34 am:

Adding, not a single election sign in sight

  40. - OP - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:41 am:

Oak Park/Cook County/IL-7 Congressional District. Lots of signs everywhere. No line at precinct at 8:30 a.m. but steady stream of people going to and from. Not unusual in high participation ward.

  41. - froganon - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:49 am:

Sleepy Hollow, Kane County had a steady stream of voters around 10:30. We dropped off our mail in ballots and helped our wonderful poll workers review what to do with mail in ballots. The weather is perfect.

  42. - walker - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 12:07 pm:

Darren two sightings and Jesse one, all in my district. Well “Bless your hearts.”

  43. - Marine Life - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 12:20 pm:

USPS failed to deliver not one but two mail-in ballots, so I masked up and headed out to my Jeff Park polling place. Steady traffic going in and out mid-morning, and inside, smooth operations.

I was briefly flagged as a vote by mail person, and when I explained what happened they let me cast a regular ballot. Easy peasy, except of course the whole vote by mail thing.
