Went out early to check the rain gauge, filled to the top again this morning. More than 10 inches over the weekend. Half of my driveway is now on the township road. 300 feet of gullies 8 or more inches deep and even wider than that.
I just wanna’ vent at how furious I am over the governments complete failure to take Monkeypox seriously. For months gay men were getting it and nobody cared. Then last week it was possible that some children might have maybe been exposed and the Governor called the President and all levels of government went into action. I’m happy for the kids of course, but where was that concern for gay men back in May?
Furthermore, Chicago just hosted a global LGBTQ event this past weekend. It was an opportunity for the government to flood this event with vaccines and education. Total missed opportunity and instead of leadership from the government the community is relying on bars and nightclubs to do the job. It’s just like the AIDS crisis.
Checked Kane County Cougars ticket prices on a whim this weekend. They’re outrageous. The only civilized prices are for the Frontier League team in Schaumburg. I hope the Bears follow through on their minor league baseball stadium plan in Arlington Heights. The suburbs could easily support another minor league baseball team, and the Cougars clearly need a little market competition.
Sorry about your bad morning. Was extra hard to get going this morning. Is it Friday yet? Week just started and it’s already too long.
It’s a very good morning for Illinois, with the passage of a very important bill in the US Senate. That’s some masterful legislating, getting this win in a tied chamber, 50-50.
@ Vern = I occasionally (a couple times a year) drive down to St. Louis to catch a Cards game. I have always been able to get a standing room only ticket for $15 or so (and there are always seats available in the nosebleed section). What are the charging for minor league tickets (you didn’t say)?

Went to the Cougars this Friday….$14 a seat down 3rd base line. Parking is $10 unless you opt for prime parking very close to entrance which then ia $20. Don’t overall find that outrageous. Granted the product on the field is probably less quality than many years ago when the Cougars were affiliated with MLB teams, but even then those boys of summer had a slim to no chance of getting a cup of coffee. Food/drink prices not all that reasonable.
You go to the Cougars for the entertainment between innings or every other inning. Been 3 times this year and have to say the present organization doesn’t seem to make the between inning experience as much fun as I remember many years ago. Went this past Friday because of the Zooperstars who did their typical stuff, the grandkids liked it. The 3 times I’ve gone this year it has not been overly crowded.
Also, yet more Capitol Complex area construction this morning. Looks like sewer work on West Edwards immediately west of College (which is obliterated north of the parking deck by the new underground Legislative parking).

Always better to have a bad Monday, Rich. It has a smaller chance of putting a “harsh” on your weekend.

We could use some of that rain here in the central part. Storms went south and north of us leaving the middle very dry.
Sorry about your bad Monday, Rich. Maybe a little Oscar sighting on here would perk you up.

They were $11 to $22 earlier this year. $9 for the grass.
Seemed reasonable- by my math it’s -80% Wrigley prices

Cheapest I could find was $16
