* Chat away, but keep it Illinois-centric, please. And try to be nice to each other today. It’s State Fair week, after all.

I’m working a short day today and heading to the State Fair to see Willie. I’m excited. Happy about the weather forecast. Have a great day.

Less than 2 weeks away from the start of HS football, and this year, the passer will have the option of “throwing the ball away” in some situations without it being intentional grounding.

It’s a different rule for it than the NFL and NCAA but still a big change for HS football.

This cool weather and the music acts should be great for fair attendance this year. I’m missing the curry and jerk chicken from the Jamaican booth. One year I ate there almost every day I worked, lunch and dinner sometimes.

Nice comeback last night by the Sox for the win, with two outs in the eighth. Fun. Tough games upcoming.

  5. - Amalia - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 8:55 am:

oh my, that Sox game was so sweet.

  6. - Anotherretiree - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 8:57 am:

My favorite The Sirloin with fixins is missing. Probabbly at the Iowa Fair. The Wallet people always at the far West end of the Exposition building are no shows. No Honey Ice Cream in the IL building ! And as newly old people, we miss the trams !

  7. - Vote Quimby - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 8:57 am:

Plenty (banned punctuation) of tix available for Trevor Noah show… I was surprised to see a comedy show play on a key Friday night, rather than a musical act.

  8. - ddp76 - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 9:00 am:

Quality win by the Sox after a rocky/lazy first inning. Today, two Cy Young contenders face off. We have a pennant race!

  9. - Give Us Barabbas - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 9:15 am:

Ides of March gave a tremendous show last night, the old men can still Bring It.

I wanted to see Trevor but the tickets were out of my budget.

Despite that, I wonder if that poster who just posts “Fire Tony” will still appear today.

If you’re going to see Willie, look for me — I’ll be the goon with the biggest smile on his face.

Our Pat is back in the news today, calling for LL to release the Little Village smokestack implosion report:

Hey Rich, were you at Obed & Isaac’s last night ??

  14. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 10:41 am:

Bocce Baller, yes. With Oscar. We were sitting next to a couple of guys, and one of them asked what my dog’s name was. When I told him, he said, “That means you must be Rich Miller.”

    lol

Most famous dog in the land.

  15. - Amalia - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 11:21 am:

I’m late to the party reading the story of Sterling Devion Carter, the Congressional staffer of Brad Schneider who faked being law enforcement, and stole money. in the midst of jan 6 too. wow.

Totally agree. Sat in the 4th row on the track and it was an amazing show. Besides their hit song Vehicle, they played many songs that Jim Peterik wrote or co-wrote while he was with Survivor, as well as some songs he wrote for .38 Special. So that was quite a treat.

  17. - Bocce Baller - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 11:42 am:

thought I recognized you as you walked by, I was there for league with my dog as well….not as famous as yours though !!!!

That’s because he’s about as funny as a hemorrhoids diagnosis. Seriously, if he’s a “comedian” then I’m Dave Chappelle lol.

  19. - G'Kar - Tuesday, Aug 16, 22 @ 12:45 pm:

The subject of an email I just received from the Trib: “White Sox vs Tigers: Classic Pitching Matchup Tonight”. It will be a great game, but Verlander hasn’t played for the Tigers since 2017. You’d think the Chicago paper would know who the White Sox are playing.
