Today’s must-read

Wednesday, Oct 12, 2022 - Posted by Rich Miller

* A whole lot of folks need to read this, not because it’s full of scary right-wing stuff, but because it’s chock full of very practical information for candidates…

So, click here and take a few minutes.

The other side better be prepared, because the Awake IL types are getting some decent training for school board elections. And Dan Proft, who is sitting on a giant mound of money, has said he wants to get involved in school board races. From July…

Following the end of his congressional campaign in Illinois’ 14th congressional district, Mike Koolidge has been hired as the Communications Director and Chief Spokesman for People Who Play By The Rules PAC, effective immediately. The “PBR” PAC is a political action committee whose mission is to support gubernatorial candidates and candidates for local offices, particularly school boards, committed to ending the fleecing of people who play by the rules and are gamed by a political system they finance.

Proft was reportedly at that Awake IL training session. Again, go read it.

It certainly is, and thank you.

I picked up nominating petitions last week, but haven’t decided whether to give it a go, or whether I really want more sleepless nights. My concern is doing what I can to keep the crazies from taking over.

Seems like pretty standard candidate training to me. Interesting that they appear to be trying to nationalize every local race possible, like commodifying the GOP candidates. It’s worked for them in Congress, and they appear to have the cash to make it possible. Will be interesting to see if this bears fruit.

Took this on after finding this tweet last night.

Blocking and Tackling is still Blocking and Tackling. No one is reinventing stuff these days. Fundamentals.

Proft aiding in a clearer understanding of fundamentals used by any competent campaign or candidate. That’s not even a fault by the group or Proft, it is a wake up call that instead of, as an example, “last year’s Illini football team”, you coach up and get better, folks will be facing “this year’s Illini football team” a more formidable and better team one once faced.

You wanna win? Train in fundamentals. Be better, as others are getting better too

–Voters aren’t stupid, but they are selfish.–

This is such an important dynamic to understand, and not just in elections.

–Show your opponent in photos with crazy people.–

When it comes to the GOP, they have a Big tent for crazies.

It’s good basic training. I’ve seen similar throughout the years.

What I found most interesting is this little tidbit:

Re: CRT, battle of CRT is being won by the Right. That’s because they are forcing the Left to explain. If you have to explain, you are losing.

Sadly, this is true. They create the lie. They repeat the lie and force others to refute it. That’s why a new culture issue pop up all the time. When you have a successful tactic, keep using it.

Let’s not overlook the end goals for the solid campaign advice are restricting expression among young people over gender and banning books

  10. - Blue to the Bone - Wednesday, Oct 12, 22 @ 12:16 pm:

I find this little tidbit most interesting, “Key mantra shared at the training: “A bad Republican is always better than a good Democrat.”

  11. - Save Ferris - Wednesday, Oct 12, 22 @ 12:33 pm:

“A bad Republican is always better than a good Democrat.”

Obvious candidate rejoinder: “I thought school boards were supposed to be non-partisan? Why are these candidates trying to force national politics on the local education of our children?”

  12. - Amalia - Wednesday, Oct 12, 22 @ 12:42 pm:

from national training to Dick Simpson to Nancy Pelosi’s book, there are lots of the same principles. Dems just need to do the work more and better because the ones with the money are discovering knocking doors.

Cults refuse to see good can exist outside a cult, always choose the cult when a better choice exists.

Oh, and at this level to be this rabid is the new normal. We are going to need to get use to it.

Yeah, great training./s Given the fact that it is being pushed by lunatics bent on disrupting or even ending public education I ma not much of a fan.

We Have five of our seven seats up for this cycle. So far my current board is running but several of the culture warriors have also signed up. I am hoping the community does not embrace them.

    ===See===

Given your commenting history, I’d be hard pressed to Celine you know what you even mean in this drive by.

In actuality, you’re proving the point.

The first step to get out of a cult is recognize you are actually *in* a cult.

  17. - Rudy’s teeth - Wednesday, Oct 12, 22 @ 2:26 pm:

The Awake IL folks who are intent on impacting school board races may be spitting in the wind. Are there aware that there is a nationwide teacher shortage.

Some districts look outside the US and provide work visas to fill empty classrooms. Current teachers who leave the profession are welcomed in the corporate sector.

Some folks have too much time on their hands.
