* An eventful day on the bird app yesterday…

Anyway, what’s going on in your part of Illinois today?

Musk is setting us up. He’s equating banning an insurrection inciting former president, nazis, and qanon quacks with journalists. He bans the journalists, and when people call if a first amendment issue, he uses that argument for allowing the voices of hate a place on the app. It’s horrible. Congress should investigate twitter, not for first amendment reasons, but to determine if bad foreign actors are aligned with musk to undermine democracy.

Reading and watching Illinois centric tweeter-folks finding exit strategies to other platforms has been interesting. So much of what was:could be good about that app is now about letting folks know where they will land.

So many good Illinois tweeters, wheat vs. chaff

I want to give a big shout out to the Treasurer’s Office and the Comptroller for the speed efficiency of their operations. After Rich’s post on Monday, I went to The Treasurer’s office website and found that I had unclaimed property. I filled out the form in a few minutes and five minutes later got an acknowledgement of my submittal. I got the check on Thursday (banned punctuation).
And it only took the USPS 2 or 3 days to go 180 miles.

Yesterday Illinois lost its title as having the greatest president, Lincoln. An ex-president proclaimed himself better than Lincoln and Washington, and has trading cards for sale.

Snow. Maybe starting to feel a bit like Christmas. But need sunshine cause the last few days have been wearing.

  6. - JoanP - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 9:28 am:

    = An ex-president . . . has trading cards for sale. =

No longer. They are sold out, thereby proving that Barnum was right.

  7. - very old soil - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 9:31 am:

How many trading cards did McCarthy and the RNC buy?

  8. - Lurker - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 9:48 am:

I’m trying to save enough money to buy an Illinois made EV. Those Rivians are expensive. We had a Tesla ordered a couple of years ago but canceled due to Musk. At first I thought he was just annoyingly eccentric but now I am to the point where he either really needs help or he is trying to ruin America, maybe a mix of both.

Waiting for the new line of Darren Bailey NFTs to hit the market.

I’m a bit surprised you got it that fast.
Biden was supposed to replace the Trump appointee who is running USPS at this time. He is the one that owns large amounts of stock in companies that are competing with the USPS. He is the one who ordered the machines that sort mail to be torn out of regional post offices and go back to human sorting. Time to replace him.

  11. - Joliet GOP - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 10:31 am:

    Joliet Democrats are the worst.

  12. - very old soil - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 10:45 am:

DuPage. I agree that DeVos needs to go but Biden doesn’t have the authority to do so. Only the board can. Not sure where the appointment of new members stands.

And he is also the one resisting conversion to EV.

  13. - JoanP - Friday, Dec 16, 22 @ 10:52 am:

= I agree that DeVos needs to go =

You mean DeJoy. DeVos was Secretary of Education and is, thankfully, gone.

Joan. Thanks for correcting my error

I’ve been around long enough to no longer be surprised when a person claiming to be a libertarian ends up being a fascist.

A powdered-sugar dusting of snow in 60827 last night, with some very light flurry activity. Guess winter is here for sure…until next week or whenever.

Musk has a plan…whatever he thinks of at the moment. A seriously loose cannon on the deck of social media at the moment. Maybe he’ll just shut it down and go back to his Evil Villan’s Lair and plot his next move. His staff must be exhausted trying to keep up with him by now. “We’re doing what now?”
