BOST CAMPAIGN RELEASES TV AD HIGHLIGHTING PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ENDORSEMENT

Congressman Mike Bost’s campaign today released its fourth television advertisement of the 2024 election cycle. The ad, titled “Own Words,” will air district-wide on cable, broadcast, and satellite television, as well as on streaming services.

* Ad

Obviously recycled footage from a previous endorsement, but still.

* Script

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Congressman Mike Bost. Mike fights every day for the hard working people of Illinois.

A vote for Mike is really a continuation to Make America Great Again.

If you want to stand up for American jobs, factories, and workers, you must vote for Mike Bost.

Mike Bost is going to win big.”

BOST: “I’m Mike Bost and I approve this message.”

    Yuck/10

But hey, that endorsement is really all that matters to the right, so that’s all that matters in GOP circles.

  3. - Larry Bowa Jr. - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 10:39 am:

Does it really need words? Just run a picture of Trump’s grinning skull next to Mike Bost. The cult members will know what that means and act accordingly.

All I could think was…this is like cancer endorsing cigarette companies.

Will JBP be going up with an add for Darren in response?

  7. - Donnie Elgin - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 10:49 am:

Rata it a B- simple endorsement - name the guy hype some issues and tell folks to get out and vote. Plus works in his district 2020 Donald Trump 56% – Joe Biden 41% .

  8. - low level - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 10:55 am:

Stands up for American jobs. Right. Werent the “Make American Great Again” hats made in China?

  9. - James - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 10:57 am:

10/10 in the District. Ain’t no stopping that.

  10. - The Truth - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:01 am:

    race over

  11. - Steve Rogers - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:02 am:

That’s gotta stick in Bailey’s craw, losing the orange master’s endorsement.

But then again, Bailey lost big in 2022, and we know the orange master doesn’t like losers.

  12. - Blue dog - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:03 am:

Trump needs a win. Any win. He waited for the endorsement until Bost had this in the bag.

  13. - Fayette County - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:06 am:

For the primary audience it will be a 10/10. For a person like me that despises Trump and what he stands for, a solid 0/10.

  14. - Pundent - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:06 am:

Today I would rate it an “A”. But history might see it otherwise.

  15. - Flyin'Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:08 am:

Much like Bost’s political career, a tepid, bland, C-.

Said it before, say it again. Mike Bost could very well be the luckiest politician in American political history.

  16. - Cmon - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:13 am:

Anyone who does not give this at least a B+ clearly does not understand the dynamics of that primary and district.

    I give it an A-

  17. - The Southern - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:22 am:

Say what you want, this is a winning ad in Mike’s district. Shouldn’t we be more concerned about Bailey losing and attempting to win back a state Senate seat? At least if he won this race, he’d be in DC.

  18. - Rudy’s teeth - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 11:25 am:

    Rate B.
Bailey never accepted that he was a back-bench legislator. His reach for governor and Congress indicates that is is unaware of his limitations.
Trump views Bailey as a loser…bigly.

I dont think he will be able to wait that long, I would look for him to run against Hull, if he beats Wilhour. Which I think is likely.

==At least if he won this race, he’d be in DC.==

Yeah. Because that’s what we need. Another addition to the loon caucus of the Republican Party in the House.

  21. - YoungDonald - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 12:44 pm:

For those saying that Darren might run for State Senate in ‘26 - he was redistricted into Jason Plummer’s State Senate District and Jason is on the ballot for a 4 year term. So that’s not a possibility for Darren. He could run for State Representative if Blaine Wilhour loses his primary or run for a statewide office. Hopefully, Darren gets the message and goes back to the farm. But I’m doubtful he’s capable of receiving messages.

  22. - Vote Quimby - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 1:15 pm:

For those looking for amusement, check out DB’s Facebook response video addressing the endorsement of Bost. The comments (let alone the video) are both comical and concerning.

  23. - Vote Quimby - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 1:17 pm:

Oops… to the post, I rate this an A-. Needed to get something out in the public, as this apparently is a critical issue in the district. As to the recycled content, I’m guessing 45 is too busy currently to get something done before Illinois’ primary day.

  24. - Aaron B - Thursday, Feb 22, 24 @ 1:20 pm:

@YoungDonald I assume anyone talking about Bailey running for Senate in 2026 would be talking about Dick Durbin’s seat in the US senate. Durbin is up for re-election in 2 years. I assume Baily would have similar or worse results in that race as he did when running for Governor.

That would be a disaster for national Republicans. Not that a Republican could win, but I can only imagine the bad sound bites coming out of Bailey.

@The Southern said State Senate in their comment. I had seen similar comments in other threads. You’re right about his result in a US Senate Race. I doubt he’d even make it through the Primary after his back-to-back losses.
