Seems this puts GOP also onboard with the other nickname for this camp where they will concentrate people - Alligator Auschwitz. Very on brand and their supporters love it.
=There are a lot of people, 44% of the 5.5million that voted for the potus in Nov 2024, that agree with the sentiments in this post.=
If the goal of the ILGOP is to get a minority of voters to agree with their messaging then they’re “winning.” In the meantime the Democratic Party will accomplish its goal of setting policy by winning elections.
Who are the most fervent and reliable come election day. The GOP needs the cult to remain at a fever pitch emotionally, or else they are truly lost. It’s why they are constantly tilting at windmills to get people riled, because if they ever stop then those voters might have a moment to themselves to think, or worse *actual facts* might get in between their ears that prove the lie.
Under current asylum rules a Venezuelan should request asylum in Columbia, Brazil, or other bordering country. Under that rule (easily googled) only Mexicans should be allowed as asylum seekers/refugees, but that is also invalid due to Mexico being a democratic country.
Regarding the “concentration camp” tag, it’s actually a last stop detention facility for violent criminal aliens. Pritzker, if ever convicted of the obvious violations of 8 usc 1324 for harboring, inducing, etc, would probably be sentenced to Club Fed. He’d be fine.
HBIA and HBIS may be kind policy, but they are illegal under federal criminal law. The fact that Illinois democrats continue to disregard federal law, while expecting compliance with other state/federal laws, is what is truly indefensible.
Let’s keep debating. Maybe I can convince someone to think more critically about all this.
=Let’s keep debating. Maybe I can convince someone to think more critically about all this.=
Translation- If you don’t think like me, and regurgitate the same talking points, YOU are not thinking critically. But when I just go with the talking points, I am thinking critically.
LOL. So now tell me more about how the maga’s, with their very tender feel feels, are saying the governor should be put in a “camp” and how they would react if the shoe was on the other foot? Your thought leader(lol), by the way, is an actual convicted felon who didn’t serve any time.
==Regarding the “concentration camp” tag, it’s actually a last stop detention facility for violent criminal aliens.==
It’s not a concentration camp unless it specifically originates from the Oberösterreich Bundesländer of Austria. Otherwise, it’s merely sparkling mass detention of undesirable others.
Pritzker is a citizen and not an illegal immigrant so it’s unclear on what basis he would ever qualify for “Alligator Alcatraz” which is exclusively for holding foreign nationals in our country in violation of federal law. State GOP chair Kathy Salvi is a lawyer and one might think she would consider a little detail like that. But why be serious when you can just pander to the lowest common denominator.

Nice.
Perhaps someday the IL GOP will figure out why they are a superminority.
Perhaps.

Nice to see some creativity in the approach
The claim is false of course, as usual.

Walker, what is false — The amount, the actual giveaway of tax dollars to noncitizens, or Pritzker needing to be incarcerated?

Correction: A minority of their own voters.

It’s post like these that need to remind a few commenters that pining for that “reasoned, moderate Republican” is a fool’s errand.
No more Edgars, Thompsons, or the like.
If you’re still voting GOP, this is your party. Lock, stock, and freak-show barrel.
Own it, acknowledge it.

===what is false===
Venezuelans seeking asylum don’t generally qualify for HBIA and HBIS. The IPI story this claim is based on is (surprise!) false.
Also, advocating for sending a governor to a concentration camp for signing a duly passed bill into law is indefensible.

If this same message came from the democrats and was targeted at potus, the ilgop would absolutely come unglued.
Also, keep on keepin on with the micro minority.

The GOP is really the epitome of being able to dish it out but being unable to take it.
GOP actively talks about incarcerating Democrats, but they heave and haw over being called weird.
I swear, if the Dems were 1/10th as belligerent as the GOP is on a daily basis, they’d be launching a civil war as we speak.

Why won’t you debate the topic at hand, which is interring the governor without due process?
If anything argues that this is a concentration camp, it’s the ILGOP’s own twisted logic.

The cutesy name “Alligator Alcatraz” doesn’t change what it is: a concentration camp.
“Alligator Auschwitz” is what it will become when people start dying there from the heat and lack of medical attention.
