According to the City of Springfield, both Spring and Edwards streets leading to and around the Capitol Complex are supposed to be Snow Routes.
In theory, they are not. Roads leading to the complex were not much better than a subdivision or remote neighborhood side street.
Apparently the people at the Stratton Building’s younger sibling on Seventh must think “all state employees are working remotely.” Then again, snow removal around the Complex was the pits prior to 2020.
IDOT needs to have all maintenance jurisdiction on all streets around and serving the Capitol Complex.
Meanwhile, good job to IDOT and other road crews elsewhere in and around the City. MacArthur and South Grand were actually pretty much snow-free, and actually better than Veterans Parkway.

Making NIU part of the UI System would only be the first step in an effort to improve on what I believe is a good educational program ( note law school).

I remember when that was a topic of discussion during my undergrad years (the mid to late 80’s).
I think the northern star came of with the name Illinois University at DeKalb. IUD for short. We had a good laugh.
