Almost 500 high schoolers this weekend attended the annual Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club convention in Springfield. Key Club (sponsored by Kiwanis) is the largest student-run organization in the world & centers on service and leadership. Our future is in good hands with these students at the forefront.
Northern Star reported NIU is projecting a $4 million budget deficit this year. They’re blaming half of the deficit on declining state revenues and they’re considering a tuition rate hike. Note, though, that this time last year, the expected shortfall was $14 million.
Not to bring the mood down but this FBI investigation at Carterville High School is so sad. I know a lot of people in that area who know that this teacher has been an open creep for going on decades now. Hope he gets the book thrown at him.
