Another day, another loss for Tom DeVore
Thursday, Apr 16, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller * Background is here and here if you need it. From former Illinois RNC National Committeeman Richard Porter…
As we discussed yesterday, failed 2022 attorney general candidate Tom DeVore was running in the 15th District. You’ll notice his name isn’t on the winner’s list. Oops. Looks like constantly ranting and raving on Facebook all day every day about fellow Republicans isn’t the same as putting in the actual work to win a race. After building up his profile by losing numerous COVID-related court cases, DeVore ran and lost for attorney general. Lost some gun case battles and had his law license suspended. And now this.

The irony of having been chosen by the IL GOP to run as Attorney General, and then two years later not being able to win your hometown representative slot should not go unnoticed. Words and deeds matter.

At this point, maybe he should open an ice cream shop.

- Rich Miller - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 1:58 pm:
benniefly2, he sells eggrolls. I kid you not.

Don’t worry,Rich.
Tom has been explaining why he lost.
It’s a big conspiracy among RINOs or something.
Nothing at all to do with his record or comments or namecalling or anything like that…nope…not a bit.

Maybe…DeVorey Queen?

I was thinking more of a whine shop.

Tom Devore never fails, he’s only failed by others.

I’m far from a fan of Tom DeVore, for multiple reasons, but to be totally fair, the system the Republicans (and only the Republicans) in Illinois use to pick their State Central Committee is in fact ridiculous and highly prone to corruption. How ever you wan’t to define democracy, that’s not what the Illinois Republican Party is doing when it comes to picking their governing board. Not even close.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 2:55 pm:
===and only the Republicans===
That’s true. State law provides two options. But if you run, you should know the rules and how the game is played.

It would be interesting to see the actual numbers from the 5th Congressional District contest between Aaron Del Mar and Wheeling Township Assessor Ken Jochum. The 5th includes precincts in Cook and Lake Counties.
Del Mar was unable to declare victory at the County Convention held in Chicago. If one key ward or township committee leader had changed his or her vote, Aaron could have lost Cook County. Del Mar had 7,087 votes to Jochum’s 5,720.

I’m just waiting to hear who DeVore blames…for the losing.
- Highland IL - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 3:26 pm:
He’s quickly catching up to Darren Bailey in losses.

I believe it’s Yaeger, and check that guy out on Twitter if you want to see how serious the IL GOP is.
- Hitting an All-Time Low - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 3:41 pm:
The Illinois Republican Party has hit rock bottom.
Steve Boulton was removed from the 2024 ballot because he could not collect 111 valid petition signatures necessary to run for 27th ward committeeperson.
Now, he is on the State Central Committee. Sheesh!

===check that guy out on Twitter===
I did. I wish I hadn’t lol
- Illiana - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 3:48 pm:
Right now, DeVore is throwing a hissy fit on his Facebook and blaming elected officials for “meddling” by letting county chairs know who they preferred. Meanwhile, he had no problem with Mary Miller and Bailey publicly endorsing him. The man is the embodiment of hypocrisy.
- Hal - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 4:07 pm:
Based on that list, and given the ineptness of this body, there are no winners, only losers.
- Berwyn! - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 4:09 pm:
It is like a running gag: the new 4th District member of the Republican State Central Committee, Bob Kelsey, was also removed from the March 17, 2026 ballot in Berwyn Township for insufficient signatures on his petition.
- Nagidam - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 4:17 pm:
The irony that DeVore lost to a Tony McCombie staffer. That has to hurt a little. Hehe
- Rudy’s teeth - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 4:49 pm:
Tom DeVore cannot get out of his own way. If he wasn’t such a putz, he’d have a better chance of success.
- ConservativeReformer - Thursday, Apr 16, 26 @ 10:19 pm:
Thanks for shining a
light on this today and yesterday, Rich.
The system of electing Republican Party Leadership
lacks transparency and can be completely manipulated in back rooms.
It should be held in public, on the ballot,
like the Democrats do. And the
Republicans used to do. It’s called
Direct Elections.
