State Sen. Robert Peters, a Chicago Democrat whose district encompasses Soldier Field, expressed frustration at [Chicago Bears president and CEO Kevin Warren} and how, despite his success in helping the Minnesota Vikings secure a new stadium, “he is now being known for this three-year cluster mess of the Bears stadium deal, and his approach to it.”
“We have come to this place where it’s an easy narrative about the governor versus the mayor. And I don’t think that’s the right narrative. The main narrative is that the Bears have been totally inept in this entire process,” he said Thursday.
“None of us want to have our heart broken seeing the team we love move,” Peters said. “What we also don’t want to see is the team we love bamboozle us.”

The Bears bought a piece of land for a new place. Just like any other homeowner/landowner they owe the taxes on this piece of property. What IS so hard to understand?

And what has Peters done to keep them in his district? I sure haven’t seen much. Deflection is a good political strategy, but not a good governmental strategy.

The Bears don’t live in his district; they just do some of their work there. They spend most of their time up in the Lake Forest area. Why should he bend over backwards to fleece the taxpayers on behalf of a mutil-billion dollar “nonprofit” that puts on a performance in his district 8-9 Sundays a year?

It is so odd to see someone show up here and shill for the Bears. Their public relations and lobbying around their efforts to get billions of dollars in public funding has been terrible and their statements in public and private have been completely unreliable.
I don’t think the measure of good government is how well one worships and serves the interests of billionaire private sport franchise owners.

Do San Franciscans care that the 49ers play in San Jose-adjacent Levi’s Field? Neither should Chicagoans.
Furthermore, 90% of the commerce associated with regular-season, playoff or SB games will still accrue to downtown Chicago, whether the Bears play in AH or Indiana

I agree with Senator Peters, the Bears have made a mess of this move…like watching a tennis match of all the times we’re staying, we’re going to Arlington, no we’re looking at Indiana. Make a decision and stick to it already.

I’m not shilling for anyone, Candy Dogdoo. Just asking why he isn’t helpful, and when they move to Hammond, we may know the answer.

Bear Down just stepped in it.
