In addition to the previously mentioned $11.7 million cut to the Attorney General’s FY27 budget, looks like the General Assembly cut several other mostly judicial-based budget lines, as well as the Secretary of State’s, budgets in the early hours of June 1. See the “Table I-A Adjustments” tab in GOMB’s “Operating Budget Detail” link to their spreadsheet for the Governor’s proposed FY27 budget (but hasn’t been updated yet for the enacted version):
https://budget.illinois.gov/content/dam/soi/en/web/budget/documents/budget-book/fy2027-budget/Fiscal-Year-2027-Operating-Budget-Line-Item-Detail.xls
SOS was cut over $3.6 million; Supreme Court $26.2 million; Statewide Pretrial Services over $10 million; State Appellate Defender cut $793,000; and Court of Claims cut exactly 10 million.
Anyone know what was up with those early morning cuts to HB 111, SA 3 (the budget bill), and the Governor apparently went along with? I just hope these GA-induced cuts don’t lead to non-federally funded cutbacks to services or layoffs.
