DeKalb wanted to enact one of those “camping bans” on public property to discourage the homeless. The proposal included a ban on sleeping in cars, and $50-$150 fines for violations. So many people wrote, called, and showed up for this week’s meeting, the council’s first act was to remove the item from the agenda.
I’m seeing articles that show that many journalists don’t know the difference between standard and daylight saving time. One headline was that Congress voted to end it while the next voted to make it permanent (the second one is correct).
I’m on team Make it Permanent, for mental health (especially for cold places like Illinois), but I get why the later morning hours of winter darkness are problematic.
