Glen Hansard also appeared in the movie “Once”, playing a busker, which he started out as in Dublin. He spoofed that movie in The Simpsons season 20 “In the Name of the Grandfather” episode. And he was brilliant as guitarist Outspan Foster in The Commitments.
Among his many Chicago-area activities, Glen Hansard contributed to the Letters to Santa benefits. In 2023, he Zoomed in because he was playing Shane McGowan’s funeral. The audio cut out of the Zoom feed, so the audience sang his part, and it was a beautiful moment.
That’s the first thing that came to mind when the sad news came in.

Spent 2 days with no power and have to say that texting info on your outage to ComEd is way more convenient than calling and waiting on hold forever.
However, ComEd texting you back to say your power is on when, in fact, it is still off, is pretty darn frustrating.

Also - Glen just played at Old Town in April, I think. Can’t remember why I had to miss it, but I was disappointed, even more so now.
