Thursday, Jul 30, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller
* JB trying out his Spanish to blast his opponent for being a racist…
English translation…
Donald Trump is a racist. And Darren Bailey wants to be just like him. This November, say no to both.
Not here.
* Pritzker’s bilingual attempts haven’t always gone so well…
* Anyway, Bailey responded to Pritzker’s latest…
Transcript…
Friends, today JB Pritzker called me a racist. But this isn’t really about me. It’s about you, because this is what JB Pritzker does to people who disagree with him. If you don’t support his agenda, you’re not just wrong, you’re an extremist. You’re a racist. Tomorrow, you’re a fascist.
JB will do everything that he can to make this election about anything except his own record. After nearly eight years in office, that’s the one conversation that he can’t afford to have. He doesn’t want to explain why property taxes keep climbing. He doesn’t want to explain why he doubled the gas tax. He doesn’t want to explain why Illinois families are staring at the biggest tax hike in Illinois history. He doesn’t want to explain why people are paying more and getting less, and he certainly doesn’t want to explain why repeat offenders are escaping justice.
And not for nothing, when people in my own party mocked JB Pritzker’s weight, I called them out. I said it was wrong because politics should be about ideas, not personal attacks. It’s a shame that Governor Pritzker doesn’t have the class to treat the people of Illinois with that same respect.
Friends, I’m not running to call people names. I’m running to lower your taxes, make Illinois affordable, give drivers a break at the pump, and keep the bad guys in jail. That’s the conversation Illinois deserves. Thank you, and God bless.
- Well well well - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:12 pm:
Technically he said he wants to be racist? XD Jokes aside, the gov’s spanish seems to be improving but wonder what Hispanics in the state think of this spanish push.
That Portuguese slip up is a big ouch!
- Incandenza - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:12 pm:
Giving your response literally sitting in an expensive leather-upholstered armchair is… a choice.
- JS Mill - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:13 pm:
=Friends, I’m not running to call people names.=
Seems like it is something he has done in the past including calling Pritzker a spoiled billionaire and an arrogant liar.
I thought it was odd he said Pritzker labels people “extremist” (which he has) but Bailey himself refers to the radical left, leftists, and socialist.
- Montrose - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:15 pm:
I’ll give credit to Bailey for a decent response. He would be a nightmare as governor, but that was good message discipline.
- Arsenal - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:16 pm:
JB’s video is whatever. Expected, I guess?
But good lord, Bailey’s response is pathetic.
- Norseman - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:16 pm:
=== But this isn’t really about me. It’s about you … ===
Yep, it’s about you. Are you going to put up with the ethnic cleansing happening in IL streets by masked secretive police who’ve killed Americans or are you going to demand decency from your state and federal government officials? November is your choice.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:20 pm:
===Expected, I guess?===
I would say cringe, but I probably shouldn’t. /s
- doug - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:20 pm:
I notice that Mr. Bailey does not deny being a racist.
- It's always Sunny in Illinois - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:23 pm:
Governor needs to stick to the non video staged events…..video’s make the New JB look sickly….
- Logan Voter - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:23 pm:
For what it’s worth, I’m a never Trump Republican and sitting this election out. I don’t like how Bailey has refused to denounce some of the more egregious things Trump has said. Do I believe he’s racis? No. But I do question him and his beliefs when he’s quiet.
- Rudy’s teeth - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:33 pm:
Kinda ironic that Bailey says, “Friends, I’m not running to call people names.” Yet, Bailey referred to Chicago as a Hellhole during his previous campaign.
- Jack in Chatham - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:35 pm:
Doug, you might investigate Darren Bailey’s running mates in 2022 and 2026.
- Roadrager - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:36 pm:
A major faux pas by Pritzker in calling Darren Bailey a racist. He’s clearly referencing 2022 Darren Bailey, not 2026 Darren Bailey, who was a completely different person. Whoops.
- Steve Rogers - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:42 pm:
Why punch down JB? Right now, you’re the New York Yankees and you’re playing the Springfield Lucky Shoes.
- Dotnonymous x - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:45 pm:
Today, I took millions in subsidies, but it’s not about me…it’s about you’all fallin’ for the new friendly version?
- JS Mill - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:49 pm:
@Steve Rogers…that was a really good post. Springfield Lucky Shoes? Was/is that a real team. So good
- The Dude Abides - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:55 pm:
=that was a really good post. Springfield Lucky Shoes? Was/is that a real team. So good=
The Lucky Horseshoes are the latest iteration of the Capitals/Sliders, a Prospect League team that plays during the summer.
- btowntruth from forgottonia - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:57 pm:
Am I the only person that noticed that Bailey didn’t deny being a racist?
He should have started off with “No,Mister Governor I am not a racist.And I don’t think Trump is a racist either.”
But he didn’t.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 2:58 pm:
===Bailey didn’t deny being a racist===
I thought it was pretty clear that he believed the claim was a ploy and not worthy of a response.
- Steve - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:09 pm:
JB Pritzker, the supporter of public education, didn’t want to send his kids to CPS but he’s calling Bailey a racist. Go figure.
- 47th Ward - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:14 pm:
Technically, JB called Trump a racist. It’s up to Bailey to decide how close to Trump he wants to be. He can easily come to the President’s defense (which I expect), or create some distance in certain areas like Trump’s racism. His choice.
The fact that Trump espouses racist rhetoric and policies is not in dispute.
- Steve Rogers - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:16 pm:
And no offense to the Lucky Shoes. They’re actually fun to watch, but they’re not the NY Yankees
- JR - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:17 pm:
A wood-paneling backdrop rarely puts a candidate in the best light. It ages the entire message. Don’t get me started on the bright, white light behind him like he’s angelic. Oh please. That halo effect belongs in psychology, not a campaign video.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:17 pm:
===Technically, JB ===
Oh, please. lol
- Demoralized - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:19 pm:
Bailey always saying “friends” when he speaks makes me cringe.
- JS Mill - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:45 pm:
=JB Pritzker, the supporter of public education, didn’t want to send his kids to CPS but he’s calling Bailey a racist. Go figure.=
Not sure how that makes him a racist. I am not 100% positive but I don’t think Bailey sent his kids to public school given that he and his wife run a private religious/military school. Full Armor something or other.
- Rudy’s teeth - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:47 pm:
Having a little fun imagining Darren Bailey recording a Spanish language 30 second spot for his campaign.
Bailey’s dialect is very distinct…imagine Amigos.
- Dotnonymous x - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:48 pm:
The word “ploy” descibes modern politics…perfectly..and possibly bigly as well.
- Confused - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 3:56 pm:
It’s not hard to say, JB called me a racist. I am not. Instead of it’s not about me.
And much to the dismay of some people here. If you are taking photos of you smiling with a racist, courting a racist to support you and not condoning a racist — then YES, you have some explaining to do.
- Proud Papa Bear - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 4:04 pm:
Racism isn’t a yes/no thing. We’re all influenced by our country’s relationship with race. I’m a white man and I’ve definitely been privileged by my whiteness and still have some problematic tendencies.
It’s a matter of how much you choose to fight racism or participate in furthering it. Republicans, of which Bailey is a solid member and quasi-leader, are furthering it at warp speed.
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 4:20 pm:
===It’s not hard to say, JB called me a racist. I am not.===
An ancient political ploy is to make them deny it.
From Hunter Thompson…
Google it.
- Confused - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 4:26 pm:
=== Google it.===
Is that similar to what you’re doing by ignoring the second part of what I said?
- Candy Dogood - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 5:06 pm:
===by ignoring the second part of what I said?===
Good golly, did you write the “I’m not a witch” ad?
- Frida’s Boss - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 5:20 pm:
@CD with the win I loved that ad and the subsequent music video
- Which one’s Pink - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 6:18 pm:
~ a private religious/military school. Full Armor…~
Oh please at least pretend you know what you are talking about. Full Armor Christian Academy are Christian schools located in Olney, Louisville,KY and Henderson, TX providing education for preschool through grade 12. They are not military schools. The name refers to Ephesians 6:11…Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
- Which one’s Pink - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 6:33 pm:
@ JS Mill
Full Armor Christian academies are Christian day schools in Olney, Louisville, KY and Henderson, TX. The name comes from Ephesians 6:11 where the faithful are to put on the whole armor of God to resist the ways of the devil. These are not military schools.
- Derek Lee - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 8:09 pm:
I liked the Bailey video! Someone mentioned above decent message discipline.
Pritzker should just ignore him but he can’t help himself. Or is trying to run up the score as a case for his presidential ambitions
- Bofa Captain - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 9:23 pm:
I don’t like this medium to express it but the gov is right. Bailey has stood next to Trump too much and has to explain what exactly it is he agrees with and doesn’t.
- Glengarry - Thursday, Jul 30, 26 @ 10:56 pm:
JB isn’t wrong.
