My wife and I enjoy either mail or early drop off. It gives us time to look over each specific candidate for any information about their views or time to read over any ballot questions.

I prefer in-person, on Election Day, because it’s fun to chat with neighbors and the inevitable campaign workers. That said, I do like the option of vote-by-mail because it’s not unusual for me to be out of town.

I vote early in person. Don’t want to chance a last minute issue that would have me miss voting. I have been voting since the Presidential election in November 1980. I have not missed an election. All primaries and general elections, even a few special elections.

Nearly always vote in person on election day. Never have to worry about lines for our precinct. Only voted early during COVID to avoid the crowds

Walking into the courthouse on a gorgeous day in early October to vote is just too easy.
I got to know our County Clerk who was in office when early voting started. He said it was the best thing to happen to his office in his career.

Every time I vote I remember my father’s combat service in WW II and all the men and women who have sacrificed in the military so we can enjoy the privilege of voting.

The last time i voted, the place was a mess. Incredibly disorganized. People were trying to watch me vote and I even had someone telling me who I should vote for. We ended up getting into a screaming match and I threatened to call the cops!
It’s the last time I’ll ever vote from home, with a mail-in ballot! /s/

In person early - I get to pick the date, which is very important with my schedule. I also like to see my ballot processed, and I politely check that there are judges from both parties working before I vote. I have made friends with judges from both parties that way.

In person early is my preference. I look up the ballot ahead of time, do my research, and have a list to quickly fill out the ballot. In and out in minutes.
I prefer early to ensure I do not miss it. I prefer in person because (last I knew) mailed/dropbox ballots had to be held until polls close and then manually fed into a machine by an election worker. I do not want to contribute to delayed election results or making extra work for someone else to deliver and process my ballot twice (outgoing and incoming). It is also less to worry about in terms of lost, delayed, altered, or stolen ballots; election workers seeing my choices; or other anomalies.

In person election day - habits are hard to break. In the last couple years I swear I am going vote by mail but end up not requesting a ballot. The four minute drive to the the rural voting place with a line once in the last ten years does not hurt.

In person on election day, preferably early. It feels like I’m really voting and participating in democracy. The election workers are usually quite friendly.
When I first moved to beautiful DuPage County they would have a couple of boxes of donuts for the early voters. That custom has long since disappeared.

I like to receive my ballot by mail, complete it leisurely at home (maybe with a glass of wine or a beer, depending on how odious or pleasurable the decisions to be made are) and then drop the completed ballot in a dropbox. Then I can take my time and also get email confirmation it was counted and notice of any errors early enough to correct them before election day.

In person, on Election Day. I know its corny, but I still get excited for the simple act of civic engagement alongside my neighbors. I particularly like voting on Election Day when there are few statewide/national races. You get a great sense of your community when you chat with folks who are turning our for school, park district, and library board elections.

Just registered for permanent VBM. I drop my ballot off at the drop box next to the county building, since it’s close to work and I don’t trust USPS given the current state of affairs.

Voted yes for three reasons:
1) You never know what might happen on election day.
2) It gives you time to study the ballot.
3) You don’t have to put up with eye-rolls and sighs from election judges when you declare which ballot you want at a primary.

People who vote before the actual election day run the risk of voting for candidates who drop out before the election. In Wisconsin last week, tens of thousands voted for candidates who had dropped out. And of course, early voters do not know the things that become public just before the election.

I like to vote in person but don’t want the hassle of lines on election day. I also want to have my vote in already in case something last minute comes up with family and work that would interfere with election day voting.

I like filling out my ballot in my own home, able to research on my computer as I go. I drop it off at an early voting site to avoid any shenanigans due to political interference with the usps.
