Campaign stuff

* GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey…
* JB For Governor…
Yesterday, hours before his running mate rallied with noted xenophobe Mary Miller, Darren Bailey had the audacity to post a campaign video from Little Village. This was particularly galling considering his record of attacks against Latino communities in Chicago.
Yesterday evening, Bailey’s campaign held a rally with Congresswoman Mary Miller. Also yesterday, Miller shared a misleading statistic about immigrants abusing welfare services and urged ICE to, “Get them out of our country.” Miller’s record of hate also includes claiming, “Hitler was right on one thing” and calling the overturn of Roe v. Wade a “historic victory for white life.”

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is running for reelection despite also filing petitions to run in Chicago’s nonpartisan mayoral election in February. […]
Giannoulias faces Diane Harris, a Republican from Will County who’s a member of the Joliet Junior College board. She reported having just $134 on hand at the end of September, compared to Giannoulias’ $19.1 million. Her campaign spent $3,420 in the last quarter and has advertised only in the Joliet area on a local gospel and jazz music radio station, according to records. […]
In a second term, Giannoulias said he would continue to implement the new laws and modernization efforts. While coy on specifics, he suggested an effort to ensure companies that supply license plate reader cameras comply with state laws barring that data from being turned over to law enforcement to track immigrants in the U.S. without legal permission or women seeking abortion care.
And he hinted that the state’s license plate design, introduced in 2016 and gradually phased in over a 10-year period, could soon receive an overhaul.
“I think we’re going to have some very exciting news on that front very soon,” Giannoulias said. […]
If elected, Harris said she wants to mandate that drivers be able to pass rules of the road tests only in English. The state currently offers those tests in English, Spanish and other languages at the discretion of the secretary of state, including Chinese and Polish.
“There are many individuals who are currently sitting unemployed that could possibly do the same work,” Harris said when asked if that policy would hurt the economy. “That’s just like if I were to go to an opportunity to have a job where they ask for bilingual, if I don’t prepare myself for that opportunity, then I won’t be eligible.”
She said she would also improve the business licensing process and continue many initiatives Giannoulias started, including online appointments alongside walk-in visits to driver facilities.
* A Bryan Drew campaign text claims “just a few votes per precinct could decide” the comptroller’s race. That’s optimistic…

Drew is running against Rep. Margaret Croke (D-Chicago).

Republican Rhys Read will challenge 15-year incumbent Democratic State Rep. Michelle Mussman in the general election Nov. 3 for Illinois’ 56th State House District. […]
If reelected, Mussman said she would work to implement a progressive income tax instead of the flat rate of 4.95% Illinois currently has and expand taxes to services on top of goods. Mussman said the extra revenue could be used to increase public school funding and lower property tax bills.
“As the state continues to work its way toward becoming a more predominant payer, that hopefully over time would alleviate your school board’s need to squeeze every conceivable penny out of their property taxes to just function properly,” Mussman said.
Read said he couldn’t support increased funding to public schools, citing waste and bureaucratic bloat.
“Chicago Public Schools has 21,000 teachers and people in education positions, and 26,000 nonteaching employees,” Read said. “When I went through it, I identified about $8 billion in bureaucratic overhead that we could cut without affecting the classroom and the education.”

I wonder why none of these business owners were featured on camera?

Tracy should run an ad in the suburbs: “Tracy for US Senate. Not endorsed by Trump”

Bailey looks scared to be there, like “hurry up and take the picture.”
As far as Wilcox, every mailer I’ve gotten from him has no mention of him being a Republican; they all say “independent.”

It didn’t take very long for them to go from “drain the swamp” to “we are the swamp.”
Bailey is really missing an opportunity to discuss how Donald Trump’s policies have personally impacted his family business. Though, I am certain he is relying on the promise of a federal bailout on top of the federal farm subsidies that allow him to be able to operate with all of the know how of a person who shoots at piles of papers on his front lawn. The most terrifying thing about the idea of fascist control of the United States is that Darren Bailey is the kind of guy that winds up running stuff.
Regardless of my personal concerns, he’s really missing a messaging opportunity in order to remain loyal to a Il Dumbce.
