It continues…
Tuesday, Nov 16, 2004 - Posted by Rich Miller From an Indianapolis Star article about Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh’s presidential aspirations: Democratic governors named as possible 2008 prospects include Bill Richardson of New Mexico, a former Cabinet secretary who is Hispanic; Tom Vilsack of Iowa, who was also on Kerry’s short list of running mates; and Mark Warner of Virginia, who also appeals as a centrist. Govs. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois and Janet Napolitano of Arizona also have been mentioned. I wonder how much longer Governor Blagojevich can continue floating his name for president when there have been so many articles written about how he is perceived in Springfield as an untrustworthy negotiating partner and notorious media hound. (I’ve got to get on the road, but I’ll round up some supporting links later this week.)

The GOP Road Ahead
Monday, Nov 15, 2004 - Posted by Rich Miller David Barkhausen is a former GOP state Senator and state House member who lives in Lake Bluff, sits on the Lake Bluff Village Board, and chairs the Shields Township Republican Organization. He sent this around to friends of his, and he agreed to punch it up a bit for us. Sorry about the length, but it was too good to pass up.

Wake up, boys
Monday, Nov 15, 2004 - Posted by Rich Miller The CrossBlogsters must be slacking today. Wired News has an interview with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and there’s no mention on the blog. Tweedy: A piece of art is not a loaf of bread. When someone steals a loaf of bread from the store, that’s it. The loaf of bread is gone. When someone downloads a piece of music, it’s just data until the listener puts that music back together with their own ears, their mind, their subjective experience. How they perceive your work changes your work. Treating your audience like thieves is absurd.

More gushing
Monday, Nov 15, 2004 - Posted by Rich Miller After playing with my new Firefox browser a bit more, I am still happy as I can be. One annoying thing about “tabbed browsing” is that the point of view would automatically shift to whatever new page I had clicked. That’s a bit of a pain when I’m pulling up a bunch of websites at once from, say, my media page. With Safari and Internet Explorer, I always opened the new screens behind the main window and then looked at them later. Yesterday, discovered that by holding down the “command key” while clicking on a link, the new page would open in a tab but I’d still be looking at the same page that I clicked from. Cool. Not sure if that works with Safari’s tabs because I never really played around with tabs too much until now. Firefox also works with my fax company’s website. Safari wasn’t compatible, so I was stuck using IE for that one task. I am now IE free. And thanks to the anonymous poster who led me to the neat little

Will you pay for Peoria (Pundit)?
Saturday, Nov 13, 2004 - Posted by Rich Miller Peoria Pundit’s site has been missing lately, and he explains today that his host’s server crashed and burned. PP wants to move to a new host, but explains it will cost a lot of money and is asking readers for financial assistance. Give the guy a hand if you can. Just click on the PayPal logo, which is midway down the right side of his home page. And here’s another tip: Never drink extra-dry martinis on an empty stomach. Oy. I hope I can still go back to that place. UPDATE: Apparently, I will be allowed back into the restaurant, but my martini intake will be closely monitored.
