Bill Anderson, Richard Piccioli
Monday, Apr 21, 2008 - Posted by Rich Miller * Statehouse lobbyist Bill Anderson passed away Saturday. Bill had one of the strongest wills to live that I’ve ever seen. His doctors told him he was a goner long ago, but he survived and continued living a full life right up to the end. A friend passed this along about the services. I’ll update when I get more info…

Thanx for spreading the word. I am sure folks are scattered to the four winds since this is an “off” week.
Seldom do the words “nice” and “kind” get used around this blog, but that will change today. Even rarer is the use of these words with someone who is a lobbyist.
Bill Anderson is one of the kindest and nicest people that I have ever met in any walk of life.
He was an honorable person in a world full of high speed bumps and bruises.
First and foremost he loved his family and they loved him. They walked this last long walk together.
Though there is great sadness. They should also know there hundreds, probably thousands of people who admired a great father and husband. They out there ready help in any way.
The life has been taken from Bill Anderson, but I don’t think Bill Anderson can be taken out of our lives. Our world would be better off if we all tried to be a little more like Bill more often.

I had the privledge to work for and with Rich for a few years and I must say I enjoyed every minute of it. Rich was truly “one of a kind” and I will sorley miss him. We are all diminished by his death. My prayers go out for his family who I know he loved very much.

I am sad to learn of Bill’s passing. He was a very kind and good person, and funny too. Sympathies to his wife and family. Also to the Picc family for their loss.

Rich Piccioli was one of the Kindest Gentleman I have ever met in my whole life. He reminded me of Fred Rogers of “Mister Rogers Neighborhood”. He had a office by me in the Howlett Building, and always was very kind to everyone, each and every day!

This is awful news, but thanks for sharing it, Rich.
I echo the kind words about Bill Anderson. He was a man of uncommon honesty, integrity, and humor, deserving of much respect as a lobbyist and as a human being.
Condolences also to Dave and the rest of the Piccioli family. I didn’t cross paths with Rich, but you’re in our thoughts.

I want to share my condolences with the Anderson family, as well. I attended a lot of Springfield High School girls basketball games last fall and winter and watched Bill’s daughter, Allison, consistently make amazing play after amazing play. You could tell what a joy it was to him to see his daughter play basketball and do it so well. The image that I’ll always carry with me — really an image that says it all about a dad’s love for a daughter — is him lying down on a bleacher, so sick that he couldn’t muster the energy to sit, watching his daughter nail three-pointers, weave in and out of defenders with ease and really just punish her body with bruises and floor burns. As I said, it’s an image I’ll never forget. My heart goes out to the Anderson family.
