    Just sayin’

  4. - anonymous - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:20 pm:

LOL - he thinks if he says it enough, it will happen!

  5. - Not Impressed - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:23 pm:

Last scheduled performance at a “community theater” is appropriate.

  6. - Secretariat - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:27 pm:

    When is going to Livinston?!

  7. - anon - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:27 pm:

Communicatin’ is goverin’ though. An important aspect of goverin’!

  8. - facts are stubborn things - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:28 pm:

Is rauner utilizing a state airplane, or is he driving?

  9. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:33 pm:

    What’s he communicatin’ “I ‘ain’t’ Quinn”?

Unless he’s workin’ the Speaker or President, this is busy work at this point.

  10. - Quill - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:34 pm:

    Savin face after yesterday. Sorta.

  11. - Norseman - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:41 pm:

He’s a salesman and travelin is what salesmen do. Now is time for the free media. Later he’ll dip into the $20 million to try an pressure the solons to bend to his reality.

He’ll call it the Turnaround Tour. I’ll call it the Vilification Tour. The aim being to convince the locals that lower wages is good for them.

  12. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:43 pm:

“Y’all’s towns are needin’ to be declarin’ they is plum broke and be bankrupted.”

I guess the Governor can say that…

  13. - A guy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:44 pm:

Coming to DuPage on the weekend. Daily Herald reports visit to Lombard Westin Hotel on Sunday.

  14. - 11Th Hour - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:45 pm:

When he turns Illinois around, we’ll be backward.

  15. - okgo - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:49 pm:

Its really funny when I read this, because “Turnaround” is a noun. If they were talking about the verb, they should use “turn around.”

As is, it looks like “Turnaround Illinois” is some sort of building or town he has plans for.

Might as well be talking about how much he will effect Illinois.

  16. - Deep South - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:55 pm:

Guess he’s not too concerned about us folk here in the Deep South.

  17. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:55 pm:

Can’t wait to see the shtick for the north of I-80 crowd. Is he going to go south-side Irish meatball on us?!

  18. - Now What? - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:57 pm:

Again…a good con starts by gaining confidence.

Does anyone know if questions are allowed at these pep rallies? Can the governor be asked to clarify his rhetoric, or is that off the table? If so, talk about an Employee Empowerment Zone! Amazin’…

  19. - Anonymoiis - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 3:58 pm:

==Guess he’s not too concerned about us folk here in the Deep South.==

Accordin’ to his Twitter pictures he’s travelin’ round Mt Vernon and Fairfield today…

  20. - a drop in - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:02 pm:

    Heading straight to Iowa. 2016?

  21. - Rich Miller - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:05 pm:

===Guess he’s not too concerned about us folk here in the Deep South.===

    Y’all love your victimhood.

  22. - walker - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:06 pm:

    Good.

Governor Rauner should publicly ask for commitments from every public official in every local audience that they will cut or freeze their next tax levy.

  23. - Suburbanon - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:18 pm:

I understand the importance of delivering the message to Downtown audiences, but there seems to be some other political calculus at work here. Is he fine tuning the message before facing the long-knives of the Chicago media directly, or does his Downstate swing inoculate the Chicago media market from harsh reaction to his anti-labor stance? Plus, it appears he is hitting the Chicago market on the weekend, another old Quinn trick, to avoid tough questioning from the top Chicago media pros. I thought he was the anti-Quinn Governor?

  24. - Bogey Golfer - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:25 pm:

=Is he going to go south-side Irish meatball on us?!=
Yuz got a probum with dat?

  25. - Fr. Murphy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:28 pm:

    -Ducky LaMoore-
Go southside Irish meatball on us?”
    Say what?

  26. - the koala - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:40 pm:

    grammar? what’s that?

sorry, but a professional communications shop getting paid higher salaries because that’s what it takes to recruit “the best” should know the difference between a noun (turnaround) and a verb (turn around)!

  27. - Soccermom - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:42 pm:

OW, I disagree. By promoting his agenda around the state, he may gain some public support that will give him a few (or rather, a) chip in negotiating with the Speaker and the Senate President. If he can’t demonstrate that voters are with him, he’s hamstrung.

  28. - Roadiepig - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:52 pm:

“Welcome, my friend, to the campaign that never ends…”

  29. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 4:53 pm:

    - Soccermom -,

You and I did this dance before? You were more right and I was more wrong in that instance, for sure.

I think my mocking and thought(s) of this not being the best idea comes from his two rollout a at the U of C and Decatur, and with less than two weeks to try to maybe personally work the Leaders, being out there when time could be better working those Leaders before those remarks.

If both chambers weren’t super-majorities, but majorities, yeah, this is probably the best thing to do.

The legislative hills need more than banners and rallies(?)

Appreciate you calling me on it. Like anyone, I need a “think” sometimes like anyone else.

  30. - Nearly Normal - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 5:13 pm:

Peoria and Decatur are industrial towns but not as much as in the past. Is he trying to sell his right to work zones there?

Maybe he sees the three as towns that would go for his red meat anti-union speech?

Will we see some union opposition there with their own slide show?

  31. - Nearly Normal - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 5:25 pm:

Deep South–He was in Troy today.

  32. - Jocko - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 5:26 pm:

    Bogey, Ducky and Murph,

Dey might trow a few questions at “Raaner” after having soda bread an’ Lemon-voxes at Reilly’s Daughter.

  33. - DuPage Dave - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 7:09 pm:

Rauner is starting to look like a clown. The fake clothes, the cheap watch, the dropped g’s, etc. The slide shows with numbers insisting that Illinois should be more like Indiana, for cryin’ out loud. If he had been honest about his desire to be more like Indiana he might have finished third in the election.

  34. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 7:39 pm:

    Sorry, - Soccermom -

“I think my mocking and thought(s) of this trip not being the best idea comes from his two rollouts; at the U of C and Decatur, and with less than two weeks to try to maybe personally work the Leaders, being out there, when time could be better used working those Leaders before those budget remarks makes more sense to me”

“The legislative hills that need climbing will need more than banners and rallies(?)”

    Better. Apologies.

  35. - Soillunion - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 8:04 pm:

He tried to sneak into southern Illinois to day, but buy we still had a welcome party for him. Next time he should give us a few days notice then we can really give it to him. He is a union busting phony. He will go down like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura, guys with no idea how to governor..

  36. - Anonymous - Thursday, Feb 5, 15 @ 9:04 pm:

Jocko…Reilly’s has been closed for years. You just killed your South Side street cred!

  37. - Dirty Red - Friday, Feb 6, 15 @ 9:06 am:

He starts talking in downtown Decatur at 9:30 and plans to start another one in Peoria two and a half hours later? Good luck with that.
