Hollywood actress Olivia Munn is urging Gov. Bruce Rauner to veto a bill that would create a bobcat hunting season in Illinois.
The legislation passed the Illinois House on May 31 and headed to the governor’s desk, where it awaits action from Rauner. A similar measure passed in 2014 but, Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, vetoed it on his last day in office.
The Humane Society released a statement from Munn, a noted animal rights activist who has worked with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in which she called on the Republican governor to veto the bill.

She also has a lot of “nerd” cache from her stint on G4, so I’d suggest that people who use the internet enough to vote in your polls might be a little bit of a favorable demo for her.

Yes, she has been in a few series and movies. But I am very leery of PETA and HSUS, particularly PETA. If people googled some of the things their leaders say/believe, they would not want those groups to be associated with any issue they care about.

Don’t know who she is, and didn’t care enough to read her letter. Bought some land recently that has bobcats, and other critters large and small.Fought for a year in Vietnam, and am not anit-hunting or anti-gun, but if you are determined to kill small cats volunteer at a shelter.

Not much on pop culture, most of the movies I watch are on TCM.
As far as bobcat hunting, I hope Rauner signs it. I don’t know which counties would be open to it, as I haven’t read the law. I have seen a couple while bow hunting. Must say, when you see one in the wild and you’re armed with bow and arrow it’s a little intimidating.

Nope, but par for the course. I don’t want hunting because I still see them rarely and think we need another year or two. But apparently the wildlife biologists at DNR believe this is the time to maintain a balanced ecosystem.
By ethical treatment of animals, would that include overpopulated bobcats hunting and exterminating smaller species, or is it ethical to protect a species, successfully manage its recovery, then let it get over populated and ruin other species?
