Mariotti jumps onto another false conspiracy theory
Tuesday, Jan 30, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * From a self described leader of “The Resistance”…
* One of our state’s Democratic attorney general candidates quickly chimed in…
Actually, no. They scoffed when Mariotti falsely claimed that “all voting machines have been penetrated by the Russians in Illinois” and then when he compounded his error several days later by falsely claiming “all voting records have been penetrated by the Russians.” * And now Mariotti has jumped on yet another false report. Congressman Quigley countered the Dworkin tweet last night…

*alluded*, Dworkin
- Rich Miller - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 9:33 am:
He makes an outrageously stupid allegation and you focus on a little typo? Up your game.
- Anon Nice - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 9:37 am:
He’s running for AG? I thought he was campaigning for a cable news legal analyst gig.
- DarkHorse - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 9:40 am:
The Dem field is winnowing out - Mariotti and Goldstein officially in the “no chance” category. Let’s see who’s next.

Not the craziest notion in this year’s primary. We really need more coverage of the Bob Marshall “divide Illinois into 4 different states” plan. Think of all the new US senators we’d get!
- WSJ Paywall - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 9:53 am:
Renato is such an embarrassment.
- Anon0091 - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 9:59 am:
I’m sorry - I’ve read this now twice. How did he jump on the false report?
- VanillaMan - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 10:16 am:
Mariotti doesn’t need to enhance a conspiracy with more conspiracy. Quigley’s doing fine by supporting Schiff’s conspiracy about the conspiracy.
- Chris P. Bacon - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 10:33 am:
Renato Mariotti is definitely not ready for prime time. Erika Harold could probably even beat him, even with the Rauner millstone around her neck. But we’ll never find out. Democrats surely have enough sense not to nominate Mariotti.

Nowhere did Quigley say or allude to changing of votes.
- ILDemVoter - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 10:46 am:
@VanillaMan…voter machines being compromised is’t a conspiracy. I trust Congressman Quigley who is on House Intell. to know classified information we aren’t privy to. And chances are, you aren’t.
As far as the AG candidate goes…I’m just confused about why this comment matters enough to make a post about it to be honest. Not the craziest thing said in Illinois politics today- plus isn’t this Kwames race to lose at this point?

===isn’t this Kwames race to lose at this point? ===
Not necessarily.

Pat Quinn says hi.
- AnonNice - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 11:03 am:
@richmller I’d put Kwame and Ruiz in tier 1.
Rotering and Fairley have an opening as the only woman (if one of them drops out).
Drury gets outsized attention for what his chances really are. He’s firing bombs at Democrats with no path to victory…..almost like something Rauner’s donors would love to see. Weird. (sarcasm)
- @misterjayem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 11:06 am:
Rich,
Thanks for including the word ‘false’ in your headline.
Voters in a state with so many imprisoned lawmakers should remember that genuine criminal political conspiracies aren’t just real, they aren’t even that unusual.

It’s interesting to me how none of the anti-Madigan Democrats I talk to are buying what Drury is selling.
- MushroomEater - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 1:36 pm:
Drury may be getting that attention because he finished q4 with more cash on hand then Fairley and ruiz combined

“Isn’t this Kwames race to lose at this point?”
Not even a little bit. It’s Pat’s race to lose and he’s very capable of losing it. The black vote is going to split between Kwame, Quinn and Fairley so while 30-40% of the black vote is great, he’s going to have to cobble together the rest. Given his issues, that ain’t close to a done deal.
