The costume was on point.
I’m not sure the Cowboy Bruce ™ costume works that well in a community that is nearly two-third minorities like Hanover Park.
“Aye, Starbuck; aye, my hearties all round; it was Madigan that dismasted me; Madigan that brought me to this dead stump I stand on now. Aye, aye,” he shouted with a terrific, loud, animal sob, like that of a heart-stricken moose; “Aye, aye! it was that accursed 13th Ward Irishman that razeed me; made a poor pegging lubber of me for ever and a day!” Then tossing both arms, with measureless imprecations he shouted out: “Aye, aye! and I’ll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition’s flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that 13th Ward Irishman on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out. What say ye, men, will ye splice hands on it, now? I think ye do look brave.”
He seems a little distracted by Madigan./s Just rambling, and telling people what to believe is not a press conference. Is anyone, including the reporters taking any of this seriously? I have heard these talking points for 3 plus years They were nonsense at the beginning, and they are nonsense now. Bye bye, Bruce perhaps not in this primary, but certainly by November. Good riddance, to bad rubbish.
Based on Rauner’s complaints, it sure sounds like Madigan has been kicking Rauner around for a while.
That seems to be a pretty good reason to support Ives. If Rauner can’t stop the evil Madigan, maybe Ives can do it.
As Wordslinger mentioned, staying on point is one thing. Not babbling while doing so is another. Beyond that though, act like you have some strength and some courage.
Rauner has been acting like a loser. It is tough to vote for someone who is running a campaign that can be summarized as “Madigan Has Kicked Me Around for Four Years, and Yes Sir, I Would Like Another.”
If voters were to ratifiy a term limits referendum on the ballot in 2020, Madigan would not be term-limited until 2030, eight years after Rauner has pledged to leave office.
Rauner just finished a 10 minute soft interview on KMOX and only mentioned Madigan 18 times ( I counted ).
Other than the expected disinformation and deflection of his record, lack of accomplishments and his dubious spin on controversial actions under his watch I did learn one thing that surprised me — he and Madigan have been golf buddies. Hard to imagine.
Watchimg the video tells us all we need to know about Rauner’s temperament and his unfitness for small d democratic governance.
He’ll be in his element and much happier when the voters return him to the hedge fund world from which he came.
“Do you have the time to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it”
Brucebot, the talking points robot, is at it again. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a soulless politician. How does anyone have any human connection with this guy?
waiting for Rauner to take the “kennedy kennedy kennedy” song (heard in the nifty video Chris Kennedy has going around riffing off his uncle’s 1960 campaign ad) and turn it into Madigan Madigan Madigan’s not for you.
I am pretty sure there is a room in one or more of Rauner’s houses that has a Beautiful Mind feel where he can be found mumbling “Madigan” over and over at 3:00 a.m.
The mad laughter combined with repeated “Madigan” mentions reminds me of Chief Dreyfus in the Pink Panther movies. Soon, he’ll start twitching uncontrollably. “Clouseau!”
Gawd, I am praying Jeannie Ives wins tomorrow, so we can stop hearing about Madigan, Madigan, Madigan. Hopefully, Speaker Madigan will do what is right for the Democratic Party and retire, so it will take away the Raunerites only mantra.
1) I propose “When the Rauners move to Italy . . . as a future regular feature for Cap Fax. If ownership agrees
2) My first entry: “When the Rauners move to Italy, John Kass should hire a Madigan impersonator to make deliveries to their house, once or twice per day. Every day.”
Unfortunately, I don’t think he is driving himself crazy with a Madigan obsession. Everything this man does is calculated and planned. In his mind, he is staying on message and hypnotizing voters to vote against Madigan and anyone he can tie to him. (Ives, Pritzger, individual Dems across the state)
Rauner cares about nothing but himself and his agenda. He just uses Madigan because he is unpopular statewide due to years of Chicago bashing and Madigan being in charge of the House for so long.
Democrats and the DPI are to blame for this, too. Nonexistent messaging. Get some Democrats to change the narrative and say that Madigan or not, Rauner’s anti-union agenda will never pass the GA. Take Madigan out of Rauner’s destructive unwillingness to compromise and negotiate in good faith. Leave Rauner with nothing other than his big steaming pile of failure.
I’m so sick of Rauner’s campaign ads for the pass 3 years that I am crossing over just so I can vote against him. I cannot take another 4 years of his hateful ads, and lies he tells.
“he is staying on message and hypnotizing voters to vote against Madigan and anyone he can tie to him”
Rauner is running his ads all over the state ofr IL and other states too. My friends from the Lake of the Ozarks comment on it. The question is, why would Rauner pay millions of dollars to run his hate Madigan ads in places where people can not even vote for Madigan? This makes zero sense to me.
